Draught at Lower Depths, 1/14/16.
Soupy New England IPA appearance, but with very little head to speak of.
If this is only chinook and centennial then consider me shocked and impressed. This certainly has plenty of light tropical fruits to match the typical orange, spicy sap-like pine and grapefruit that I would expect/associate with chinook and centennial. Had no idea they could produce the highly aromatic, juiciness that I associate with Galaxy/mosaic and such. Otherwise, quite hop-forward with a bit of honey and bread from the malts and no alcohol or flaws.
Quite bitter and juicy at the same time, with a delightfully tight carbonation and supple malt texture producing a near-perfect texture. It does dry out somewhat, the grapefruit and pine helping to see to that. But it never loses the dextrinous body, even if there isn’t quite enough malt sugar to balance the acidity/dryness. Quite Fort Point Pale-esque, though not quite as balanced as that one. No flaw or alcohol and no onion/dill/cat.

Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5

Draught at Lower Depths, 1/14/16.
Heavy haziness, but not soupy. A deep golden-bronze color with a white head that fades steadily to a ring.
The nose shows biscuits, a touch of mustiness, lemon-lime citrus character and lightly acidic brett notes that play very nicely with the rest of the beer. I get little/no oak character and wouldn’t guess this to be oak-aged from the nose. Which is fine. Very balanced and mild, but not weak, importantly. With further warming, a distinct sulfur note emerges and I’m extremely delighted. It’s not heavy at all, but just gives that rustic, lambic-like quality that I can never get enough of. Kind of cool that it wasn’t apparent right away, but took some time to develop.
Flavor is moderately tart, with some mild oak tannin on the finish and moderate acidity. Tight carbonation and dextrinous but well-attenuated malts provide plenty of texture and balance to the acids/tannins. Citrus and light floral notes are noted, but are quite reserved as well. No flaws, no alcohol. Extremely drinkable and all-around well-done.

Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6

Draught at Lower Depths, 11/14/16.
Classic New England soup-like cloudiness appearance with a bright golden and fiery orange tint. White head fades to a ring quickly.
Very perfumey in the nose with lots of floral suggestions. Quite lilac-y. Where I’d really like some soft honey notes to balance this, it instead seems extremely dry, leaving nearly husky/papery cracker and biscuit-like malt notes. Gains some balance with warming and breathing, as expected, providing some deeper, juicier citrus and tons of dank, almost earthy hop characteristics. Very, very light on the (assumedly) brett character. No alcohol or flaws.
Similar flavor profile, with a heavy, heavy attenuation and dry, somewhat scratchy, cracker-like malts not providing enough balance for the sharp, perfumey hop and brett acids to sink in to. Some softer dextrins are noted with warming, however, and as in the nose, more complexity comes out as well. Pretty well-executed, other than being a bit overattenuated, but I’m not sure how well a mixed ferm wet hop beer works, overall.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8

Draught at Lower Depths, 11/14/16.
Beautifully shimmering, lightly hazy lime-bronze-tinted white golden body is topped by a large white head that steadily fades to a ring.
Powerful nose at first gives acetic suggestions with a soft, subtle, horsey funk in the background. With some time, the acetic character fades, leaving strong brett acids in its wake and very light biscuit and cracker-like malts. No flaw or alcohol.
The flavor is quite different than the nose would suggest, being filled with lime, light vanilla, guava, passion fruit and honey. Great balance of malt and brett, though tending more to the tart/acidic side, as it should. Tight carbonation, with a soft texture and high drinkability. As with most of their beers, there’s nothing flashy here, but yet it’s perfectly clean and well-done.

Draught at Lower Depths, 11/14/16.
A mahogany-toffee colored beer, with indeterminable, seemingly opaque clarity, topped by a light tan head with moderate retention.
Smells like a porter! Ummm, ya, tastes like a porter too. Very much straightforward with clean, fresh ale yeast contributing light fruitiness and plentiful roasted barley giving a strong roastiness in both aroma and flavor. Attenuation is high, but there’s more than enough body, creating a chewy-like texture with ample, tight carbonation. Light chocolate, brown bread, coffee, and hints of vanilla and light caramel. Nothing earth-shattering, but wonderfully well-executed and packed full of flavor for its low abv. The type of beer that could get me back in to dark beers, if it were readily available at places I drink.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5

Draught at Tip Tap Room, 1/8/16.
Moderately hazy golden-bronze body is topped by a small, but reasonably well-retained white head.
Plentiful orange, lemon and light pine are easily supported by a strong honey-like malt character. Not overly aggressive with the hops, nor is there any resin, but the lack of the brett here kind of loses me. I mean, maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think anyone’s going too wild for these variety of hops. It works better with Waymaker, allowing more focus on the brett, especially with the citrus character of each complementing one another.
In the flavor, there’s a soft, malty, dextrinous texture, with lots of grapefruit, meyer lemon, juicy pine and spicy chinook to it. Dries out considerably on the end and is quite drinkable. Fine, but I’ll stick to Waymaker.

Tap at Miso Hoppy while I pick out beers for poker and a trade. Nice hazy golden pour. Nose is bretty and some citrus. Tastes light but of grass, hay, plenty of Brett and some lime citrus. Zesty and crisp palate. Quite pleasant beer you could pound al day guilt free.
