Bottle. A hazy, dark golden-orange beer topped by a small, dense, off-white head. The aroma has lots of citrus peel and pine cones, some peach hints and a touch of grapefruit. Not much bourbon detected, if any at all. That’s a good thing I think. The flavor has the hops dominating, giving bitterness and flavors of pine cones and grapefruit. Too much alcohol warmth on the palate, it’s full-bodied and with a nice carbonation level. Lasting bitter finish with alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice one, but it’s too warming. 140228

500ml bottle from Ales by Mail

Bottled Nov. 13 - Pours clear dark copper orange with a white head. Aroma of fresh grassy hops, biscuity maltiness, hints of earthy notes, caramel and herbs. Taste is herbal hoppy, malty and a bit stuffy with a touch of yeast, grass, pine, wheaty notes, caramel and gooseberries. Finish is hoppy, grassy and malty with some musty notes and fruitness. Okay, but not quite as refreshing as I was hoping.

Amber, bit hazy, frothy white head, some lacing
Aroma of soft herbal hops, bit grassy, touch of freshly cut plant stem, some sweet fruity malts, soft citrus
Taste of soft herbal hop, some soft dry citrus zest, slight grass, nice sweet tropical fruity caramel malt background, drinks well for the abv
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, soft oily texture, good mouthfeel, quite sweet. Finish as main flavour, little dry, more bitter zest in the finish, cleans off palate well.
Overall - Bit of a mixed bag this, just not sure about the hop profile here, nice malts though

Good hops - citrus, pine, grass, tropical fruit jam and mild hop spice. Nice balance of hop flavours and never too bitter. Finishes dry with a mild hop linger.
