Draft at Pigs Ear 2013 - London. Pours black with a frothy tan cap. Good dark malt aroma with accents of burnt pine, coconut and grapefruit. Medium sweet flavor with a bit of alcohol punch, dry cocoa, dried citrus fruits, dirt. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Finishes with charred dark malts, dark fruits, warming alcohol and torched wood. A manly black IPA, this.

Bottle from Great Grog. Hazy golden body with a medium white head that holds well. Steady carbonation. Great lacing. Aroma of passion fruit, minerals, vine tomatoes, grapefruit and coconut milk. Flavour of lychee, oranges, caramel and an unusual (but rather nice) hint of coconut. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. A subtle, fruity beer with a surprisingly full body for its ABV. Weird Beard are incredible at maximising flavour in their beers.

Deep dark ruby color, tiny beige head. Ash, caramel, some citrus hops in the nose. Medium-bodied. Flavor is similar to aroma. Some citrus mixed with roastyness and ash. Nothing wrong here but it’s a beer to drink just one pint.

Bottle, 5.4%. Good roasted aroma, coffee and a little smoke. Black colour. Big stable brown head. The flavour is quite roasted and quite bitter. A good piney hoppiness to give a little bite and to counter the creamy and chocolatey roastedness. Very flavourful, especially considering the ABV.

Bottle. Pours cloudy nearly black with airy but stable tan head. Clear aroma of roast, malt, caramel, and coffee. Bitter, roasty flavour, with notes of coffee beans, malt, and liquorice. Lingering, bitter aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel. Very pleasant, indeed.
