Bottled@SBWF2010. Ambery brown colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is smoked wet wood, peat, some mild burnt bacon as well as mild freshly cut wooden notes. Flavour is smoke, mild tar, wood, some toffee and mild smoked wet wooden notes. Rather pleasantly balanced.

Draft at SAVOR. Poured a pitch black, small dark tan head. Aroma was chocolate notes, touch of vanilla and barrel aged notes. Flavor was sweet, a bit too sweet, but around the sweetness I caught a good chocolate, vanilla, and malt brew. Alcohol wasn’t very masked, and shown through the brew. Very cool.

Hazy pale gold beer with a light white head. Soft palate, semi dry. Very light hops with an orange tone. Just a little hop bitterness in the aftertaste. A good session beer.

Bottle at CaptainCougar’s local tasting, thanks! Kevin described the aroma perfectly - horse stable (but in a good way). Taste is sweet with campfire. Interesting.

Whoa. Serious IPA within these aluminum walls. The malts are very grainy and hold a touch of earthiness, but the huge herbal hops obliterate any resistance you may hold against drinking more of this beer. Caldera IPA is a deliciously bitter IBU fix, piney with hints of citrus, unloading scores of hop resin onto your palate. The graininess becomes a pleasant, almost nutty background as your tastebuds succumb to the hoppy assault, and the beer finishes with a dry swipe, yet still harbors a minimal malt sweetness. Tasty and pretty enough to cause boners in Beer Geeks.

This beer is beautiful, I’ll give it that. Hazy gold with lovely frothy white top, the brew leaves ample lacing as you sip the pint. The taste is decent, but a little, well, weird. The grains are quite prevalent, playing a much larger role than you’d expect in a dry-hopped pale ale. Still, the bitter finish cleans things up, and the texture is smooth and lovely, begging to be guzzled. Luckily, being a beer snob, I no longer guzzle, which means I get to enjoy the feel for a while longer. Just don’t count on much coming from the nose-- this beer is nearly odor-free. Again, confusing because of the dry-hopping. Still, Caldera Pale Ale is yet another notch in the headboard of the canned beer revolution.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malt, hops and strong wood. Flavour brings out roasted malts, hops and wood - some oaked notes. Lingering notes of wood and hops. Most outstanding.

A golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, intense black pepper and light rosewater. In mouth, black pepper over honey malt, light rose, a bit of maple, not bad. Tasted March 12 2011 with Montreal crew.
