Draught @ Hawthorne Hophouse. Rated on 11.07.2012
Aroma is rather nice with roasted malt and dark chocolate. Also hints of vanilla. Flavour is dry with coffee and chocolate. A slight British feeling here. Good.

Aroma has licorice and hay – feels English. Also hints of licorice root and coffee. Flavour has licorice, toffee typical to English ales and some licorice root. Also hints of baking stuff. Too English for me, I prefer other kinds of porters.

22oz bomber pours clear deep copper with firm tan head. The aroma offers up lots of sweet malts and some sweet cherry hard candy and then a touch of sweet toffee like notes. Wow, the flavor does have some nice sort of vague hoppiness but this is overshadowed by sweet cherry like fruity esters, toffee and malts.

Hazy amber - red beer. No head. Semi soft palate, dry. Mild carbonated bite. Sweet malt with a touch of cream. Minerals and a whisper of orange. Subtle esters - banana and bubblegum. Finishes dry and creamy. Not sure what this is supposed to be but whatever it is - it falls short. Top marks for weirdest beer name though!

22 oz bomber a gift from bhensonb at our tasting at his house. Nose is rich dark chocolate, vanilla, sweetness, and a light touch of bourbon. Clear very dark brown with a small beige head. Flavor is very chocolatey, lots of vanilla, and some bitterness with only the tiniest, barely detectable hints of bourbon. Fantastic brew!

Bomber. Pours slightly hazy dark orange with a large cream-colored lacy head. Aroma is a little odd--it smells a bit like popcorn drizzled with caramel with some vegetal offnotes. For such a supposedly hoppy beer, it smells very malt-driven. There are some faint citrusy hop notes in the background but that caramel really drowns everything else out. The taste is bittersweet with an emphasis on bitter. Has a full body and a prickly mouthfeel. I was hoping for a resinous dank hop-bomb, but this is definitely something different. Although not bad, it’s pretty weird.

22oz bottle picked up at The Grapevine
Appearance: Pours clear golden with a medium sized creamy off-white head and sticky lacing
Aroma: Mild aroma of grapefruit and pine
Taste: Caramel, tropical fruits and finishes with bitter pine resin
An enjoyable IPA. Mild upfront in aroma and when it hits the tongue, with a bitter pine finish. Nice.

Hazy amber beer. Semi soft palate. Creamy malt, well integrated with grapefruit hops that are not too bitter. Some orange underneath. Finishes semi dry. One of the beers that isn’t shouty but creeps up on you with subtlety and charm. Another good sign is how quickly the can dissapeared.

Tap at the tap house. Pours rose with an off-white head. Aroma is unusual and does contain ginger. Flavor is definite hibiscus with firm underlying ginger. It’s a bit herbal, not wholly floral, and it’s great stuff. Hibiscus and ginger in the finish.

Tap at the tap house. Pours black with a creamy beige head. Huge chocolate and bourbon aroma. Full bodied; creamy. Flavor is smooth bourbon, but turns very chocolate as the bourbon slips away. Smooth, gets a little ashy, not too bitter and the heat is very low key. Excellent ale.

Tap at the tap house. Pours copper amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma suggests black tea? Med body. Flavor is bready, somewhat caramel, in a bock way. Hoppy enough to balance the malt. Finishes matching bitter and sweet.
