Tap at the tap house. Pours red with a creamy beige head. Aroma is resin. Med body. Flavor is floral/resin. It’s very hoppy and finishes that way.

Can from Liquid Solutions. Pours very dark copper amber with a respectible beige head. Aroma of rather roasted caramel accompanied by floral hop. Near medium body with almost creamy carbonation. The roast malt has a harsh note, like so many browns, and the hop bitter is firm, seemingly more complex than indicated. For me it’s floral, citrus, spice, and a touch of resin. Maybe this beer is complex? Who’d have thought. Drinks really well.

Can @ The Rover. Pours clear golden with a rather small frothy and creamy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of lacing on the glass. Smell is slightly sweet an hoppy fresh with grapefruit juice, overripe mango, lemon zest, pineapple, persimmon, old bread, grass and orange peal. Taste is tiny sweet and bitter with orange peal, grass, pine, unripe mango and hints of caramel as metal. Mouthfeel is slightly crisp, slightly oily bitter, tiny watery and light to medium bodied. Finish is bitter with grass, orange peal and unripe tropical fruits.

Clear amber beer. Very light toffee malt nose. Crispy semi dry palate. Toffee malt start, balanced with a little bit of soft hops. A little bit of metallic tang but otherwise an okay amber.

Bomber. Aroma is smoked bacon, pure awesomeness. Pours hazy dark amber-brown with a medium collapsing beige head. Taste is everything I want in a smoked beer. There’s not just a hint of smoke here like in a lot of examples of the style, this is a whole smoker jammed down your throat, filling all senses. Body could be fuller. Delicious!

Bomber from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Pours copper amber wth a foamy/creamy 4 finger beige head. Mixed fruit hop aromas over a caramel backbone. Med + body. Flavor is sort of mildly cooked caramel covered by a huge amount of hop. No harsh NW thing here. It’s mixed fruits and florals, with maybe a bit of pine. A fruity ale rather than a resin ale. Quite delicious.

July 2010: 12Oz can purchased from ’Beers of Europe’ here in the UK. Poured the beer into a ’Hoegaarden’ Grand Cru glass. Looked good, huge cream coloured head sat on top of a dull, hazy, dark amber/orange body. The head produced some heavy lacing and tried to stay throughout the tasting. The nose was of yeasts and hops along with some grain type esters. The hops from the aroma take over the taste completely, a real bitterness hits the mouth and throat. Why do they (or is it you?) have to over hop everything in the US when they brew an IPA? There really is no need to do so. It isn’t as bad (hop wise) as some I’ve reviewed, but still too hoppy for my tender tastebuds. It is true to the American IPA style and I think one of the better examples I’ve had (I am not a huge fan of the style though).
