(500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark). Very dark reddish brown colour, moderate thick tan head. Moderate but pleasant roasted aroma, hints of tar and old woodwork. Flavour is all roasted malts, a bit thin mouthfeel compared to some other stouts, but refreshing. No masterpiece, but nice enough.

Sweet malt aroma with a hint of cherry. Nice dark red/amber color. Bittersweet taste with light malt flavor but smooths out a beer warms up. Nice big bottle for sharing. Not as distinctive as other Wychwood beers.

Bottled, alc. 5.2% ABV (BB 05/2005)
Red-brown, small creamy head. Hoppy, typical British ale nose. Slightly bitter, quite watery.

Dark brown with little head. Malty aroma and a nice medium bitter flavour. Good creamy mouthfeel. Good average ale. Cask conditioned: Just as average, same rating.

Not quite as good as Hobgoblin but still an enjoyable ale. Does not have a strong flavor - a bit mild but still enjoyable.

Black color; thin creamy head. Reasonable aroma, roasted malt and a touch of liquorice. The taste besides the roasted malt and liquorice/caramel is not really surprising, and the final just strong. Above the average Stout, with no emotions.

Bottle: Poured a red/brown colored beer with a nice head with usual british ale retention, i.e. not much. Carbonation is below standard and aroma is great with a mix of orange and caramel. Taste is quite refreshing with again a nice mix of sweet orange and caramel. The finish is quite dry. Overall, I would qualify this one as a good but not great English ale.

Orange to ochre colour; good head but gone in second. Both (British) hops and malts in the nose (good balance). Vague pinapple aroma. Soft sweet taste, fruity but less definite than the nose. Palate flavours rather as weak tea. Slight soapy mouthfeel, medium bodied. Not overly impressive. The balance is just perfect - but where's the rest?

Presentation: 500ml Clear english style bottle with a great beer cap (profile of the hobgoblin with an axe). Gorgeous deep red color... not much of a head at all. Smells VERY grassy... not what i expected out of this one. Tastes pretty grassy too, with a hint of coffee. I do not taste the fruit that the finish was promised to present. The finish reminds me of iced tea. Well, not an awful brew, but not one of the best. Cool bottle for my wall.
