19/3/12 - Wetherspoons in Woodseats, Sheffield. Ordinary number with an unremarkable body or taste. Far from offensive, but swift to move on to others.

500ml bottle - refreshing little number with a good level of citrus and tropical notes. Little thin, but made up for it with the taste.

Cask at Ealing beer festival 2012. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Roasty, chocolate, licquorice aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, chocolate, licquorice, bitter/sweet, dark fruit. Smooth and easy drinking. Decent porter.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 23/06/2012. Deep gold with a slight white head. Citrus hop aroma with some fruity sweetness. Solid malt flavours, with more fruit, a whiff of pine and dryish finish. Enjoyable.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours lightly hazy orange-gold with a small, foamy white head. Nose holds some crisp, lightly toasted dough, orange citrus, zesty rind. Light to medium sweet with plenty of rindy bitterness, toasty sugar, dirty grass and faint toasty bread. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Somewhat resinous to finish, somewhat oily, with lots of grassy bitterness, mild juicy citrus and a bit of toast. In the end the bitterness comes across as just a touch much, but in general this beer is a decent effort.

Nose is a distinctive pale with malt notes. Smooth texture and smooth bitterness as its flavour,

Cask handpump at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford 22.06.12 Pours light amber with a wispy white head. Good bittersweet balance as usual from Acorn with their hoppy beers. Very nice, the bitterness leaves a furry trail across the tongue. Some citrus rushong through, tangy and lipsmackingly good. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.6

A crisp and easy to drink porter, but certainly not a distinctive ale in character.
