Can, 2.1%. Very weak caramelly aroma. Clear grey amber colour. Small off-white head. The flavour is very... basic. Tastes a bit of soda water, but I guess there is a mild grain note as well.

Bottle from Sainsburys, Maidstone, Kent. Attractive deep amber colour with a rim of beige head. Smells of pasteurised beer with vague Sheps yeast. It’s another pasteurised Sheps beer. Why do UK beer companies feel they need to do this? I mean I’ve had cask beer today that tastes beautiful and wonderful and then have to drink this bollocks at home? Come on Sheps, you are better than this.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s, Kidlington, Oxon, consumed 15.10.10 Pours dark conker brown with some red highlights and a large frothy beige head. Quite a dry stout though there is some underlying sweetness (just) Plenty of big roasty bitterness, in fact this bitterness really sticks around for a while. If I had a criticism it is that it’s a little thin for the strength, in fact its quite challenging as well, though I rather like it. A6 A5 T7 P3 Ov13 3.4

500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s funnily enough. Clear gold, very thin collar of off white head. Some orange fruit hop on aroma. Hops are ok if just a touch of blue cheese. The problem with this beer is in the body. The malts aren’t present enough. And I’m guessing this is filtered and pasteurised so it has that empty feel in the mouth. Hops on the finish are bitter but lacks some flavour and a touch more blue cheese. But really all you get is this touch of emptiness from the lack of malt and the filtering. Ultimately dull no matter if it does have more hops than usual for a UK beer.

Can, courtesy of fonefan. A clear, golden beer with a small, off-white head. Bready, caramel flavor with grains, fruits and a touch of honey. Honey-corn. It’s very thin on the palate, with grains, fruits and honey, and a touch of bitterness. Short, grainy and honey-corn finish. Definitely not a beer I’d be proud of making, even though it’s at only 2.15 ABV. 101009

Can, courtesy of fonefan. A more or less clear one, pale golden in color and with a small, white head. Fruity, citrusy and grainy nose. Thin on the palate, semi-dry. Grainy and fruity flavor lacking on most things, bitterness included. Short finish, very short. A real waste of ingredients. 101009

Bottle from Sainsbury’s, Kidlington, Oxon, consumed 07.10.10 Pours light amber, the aroma is a little leafy, taste is touch sweet with a buzzy sort of bitterness, sharp edge, its fine, finish is a bit of soft. 50cl bottle from local Sainsburys. Golden amber with a white head; this has the classic sulphorous aroma associated with Marstons; crisp citrus malt flavour with some honeylike sweetness and digestive biscuit; and a rather green hop finish. Pleasant enough.
