Mushroomy barley malt nose. Clear dark amber, no head. Barley malt flavor, some grass in the finish. Not all that great. I enjoyed it, but more because it was simply cold and it’s been hot as hell all day. I probably would have gotten as much satisfaction from a Budweiser.

Small white head over golden beer with an orange shine (NB: very nice new glass). Very dry nose, greenery as salad, parsley, and again the vegetable frying oil, that seemed to have disappeared in the later De Koninck Tripel versions. Beer for the wok? Sweet flavour, and again the veggie oil (what IS this?). But the beer itself being more neutral then the former Tripel, this frying oil flavour comes out all the stronger. Very slick (oily...), some alcoholwarming and -sweetness backthroat. Can’t say I like this better than the Tripel. It’s different, yet not unsimilar.

6th March 2010. Hazy red brown beer. Crisp palate. Creamy malt and that’s about it! However it is hard to dislike.

On tap at Flying Saucer. Pours a cloudy amber with a small frothy white head that lasts awhile. The aroma is a sweet malt with raisin. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet fruit and caramel. Easy to drink, a good belgian.

Tap @ Wildeman. Clear yellow color, short frothy head. Aroma of some hop, bit caramel malt, bit grassy. Quite bitter grassy taste.

Sampled from the bottle at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA, 5/5/10. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a medium head. Caramel and toffee aroma with some faint hop notes. The taste is caramel, toffee, some earthy notes and bitter hops. Medium bodied.

On tap at Café de Paas. Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma of sweet fruits, esters, light malty. Flavour is sweet, bit floral, fruity, light malty, nice bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. Typical De Koninck.
