Description
Looking for the real taste of Antwerp? Since 1833, there has been just one address: our Antwerp City Brewery. Because when people get together in Antwerp, they do so more often than not with a Bolleke Koninck in their hand. And that’s how De Koninck has become synonymous with Antwerp –and vice-versa. Every day, we work hard to uphold this proud tradition while also experimenting on ways to perfect and reinvent the taste of Antwerp.

Fles 33cl thuis. Weinig spannend, wat zoetig en commercieel. Toch ook wat bitterig. (10-2010).

Very dark gold color, near to amber. Big fruit aroma, cherry. Sweet and rounded fruity flavors. Somewhat balanced, though not as dry or hoppy as I would like in a tripel. Very fruity and a bit too sweet. Not very tripel like.

Almost no aroma, just some earth and a tiny bit of dark fruits. Yeasty, earthy flavor with amber malts. Boring.

Cloudy, deep gold. Spicy, golden malt aroma, yeasty. Spicy, fruity flavor very yeasty and nicely dry. Hops evident. Like a drier, yeastier version of a usual boring blonde. Ok but not so exciting.

Bottle. Bright golden color, large white head. Peppery, malty, and a bit sweet. Pretty decent example of the style.

Clear brown with a small light beige head. Light and cheerful aroma of caramel, apples and nuts. Gentle fruity sweetness with refreshing spicy dryness at the end. A nice enough refreshing drop but at least in the bottle it’s lacking much character.

Mushroomy barley malt nose. Clear dark amber, no head. Barley malt flavor, some grass in the finish. Not all that great. I enjoyed it, but more because it was simply cold and it’s been hot as hell all day. I probably would have gotten as much satisfaction from a Budweiser.
