Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colinho. Opaque black beer, small bubbly tan head. Palate is light and a little dry. Fine carbonation. Light tang on the dark malts, Fair bit of bourbon and bourbon spice. Touch of dark fruits. Light dry finish. It’s a fun beer if somewhat fiery.

Bottle split at Bruce’s Pad, thanks to an IP with James (clockwork) 12/06/14. Light black with moderate tan spotting and edgework. Nose is a big bourbonic trumpeter, spice, booze, rich malt notes, dark chocolate. Taste comprises dark chocolate, boozey licks - a little harsh on this front, spice, dark toffee, molasses. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Ok impy but not overly subtle, a little harsh in places and a touch too hot.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Colin for this NJ rarity. Pours black-brown with a light, tan cream head. Boozy wood on the nose, some oily chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with plenty of alcohol, light metal, earth, chocolate, raisins. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish with more oily chocolate, light burnt wood, bitter scorched earth. Nice if a bit heavy.

A bit hot and sweet.....

Pours a golden orange appearance with an off white head. Fair amount of tropical fruit, smarties, slightly herbal aroma. Kind of juicy, dry herbal / grassy, mango, pineapple flavor. Light to moderate sweetness. Moderate bitterness. Not all that bad.

Draught at EBF, 3/22/14
Clear pale golden body has just a slight touch of chill haze. White head atop shows strong retention.
Lovely tropical fruit producing hops in the nose show no signs of that nasty pine and very little citrus, for that matter. Pineapple and kiwi, with a touch of minerals, clean yeast and just a hint of band-aid formed brett acids. It’s outrageously aromatic, fresh, juicy and wonderfully attenuated.
Soft, almost creamy mouthfeel supports the very light brett acids that are augmented by delicious, bright, lively and light hoppiness that has a few spicy notes and then full-on mango-pineapple. Malt is perfectly dry, but not astringent or over attenuated. Little hints of pils malt sweetness and just a quenching and yet thirst-inducing drinkability. Wow. Glad I stopped by here. Will certainly be trying more from these guys. Outstanding.
