Description
Great Notion Brewing is a project started by three friends; Andy Miller, James Dugan, and Paul Reiter. All three guys met each other out of coincidence, they live on the same street in North Portland. Andy and James met each other while home brewing in 2010, and began developing recipes and building a friendship. Together they have 25 years of brewing experience with medals in the National Homebrew Competition for fruit lambic and Double IPA. Paul Reiter has a degree in business and finance with a focus on start-ups and creative enterprise . In April of 2014, the boys finally got together and shared some home brew. On this night they enjoyed a Stout with hand smoked Vienna malt, a 3 year old Peach Sour, and a 10% double IPA. It’s fair to say, on this night, Great Notion Brewing was born.

Tavour can: gold with white head. Huge hoppy aroma with plenty of grass, flowers and some lemon. Taste is not very bitter but flavorful and still quite crisp. Quite nice.

Can.
A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head.
A- Smoke, light wood, faintly grassy, damp.
F- Straw, faint smoke, very faint citrus, sweet malt.
T- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish.
O- Really nice. I love a good Grod and this is one. I could crush several of these and it really is an underrepresented style. Light, refreshing, balanced smoke, malt, and grains with an underlying citrus. Loved it.

16 oz. can, pours black with a tiny tan head. Aroma has plenty of dusty cocoa nibs, stewed banana, and some earthy toasted malt. Flavour has plenty of chocolate and banana but not with much malt base—I’m actually gonna complain of thinness, as well as lack of flavour depth and complexity. I don’t get any artificiality as feared, but this is just rather tame. OK.

Poured from 473mL can. Very dark brown with minimal beige head. Light banana, dry-ish chocolate and roast, light background fudge, feint metallic note, okay. On par with Brassneck Bananas in Pajamas.

473mL can. Pours very dark brown with a minimal head. Bananas, milk chocolate, and graham crackers on the nose. Flavour has milk chocolate, bananas, brown sugar. Not particularly complex, but the bananas taste like actual bananas and it's all pretty well dialed in. The palate is pretty thin though. Overall it's better than I expected, but not great

16oz can from Homebrewstuff. Hazy golden pour, small creamy head, streaky lacing. Light citrusy aroma with faint tropical notes. Taste brings some citrus peel up front, peach, mango flavors. Dries out and fades fast
