Description
The Budelse Brouwerij (Budels Brewery) is a family business that still values the traditions that have guided the brewery for centuries now. It's been at the very heart of the village of Budel in Brabant since 1870. Founded 150 years ago by Gerardus Arts as Brouwerij de Hoop (the Hope Brewery). Today, the fourth generation of the Arts family is at the helm and we are just as committed to the brewing as our ancestors.

(Bottle 30 cl) Clear, dark amber with an off-white head. Very spicy, sweet aroma. Medium-bodied with sweet caramel notes, some cinnamon and perhaps other spices. Fairly alcoholic and bitter finish. Appears more like a spiced Lager than an Ale. 271006

Bottle (traded with joss) Clear amber coloured, small foamy layer; fruity (ripe berries), sugary aroma with a touch of toasted malt and molasses; stronger sweet flavour, sticky MF; ripe fruit in the finish with a very small bitterness in the aftertaste. Not really bad, but rather one-dimensional......................

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 30 Sep) Yellow colour, hazy, firm white head. Fruity, spicy nose with orange, lemon, banana and some clove. Fruity taste full of orange, lemon and clove. A bit on the sweet side, but surprisingly tasty. Better than expected.

[Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival] Clear golden, brief head. Evident honey aroma. Sweet and medium bodied with clean mouthfeel. Some paper mixes in with the balsamic honey flavour. Rather pointless, too sweet beer.

[Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival] Hazy golden. Very sweet and sugary with notes of pineapple. Medium bodied with sticky mouthfeel. Much too sweet to be refreshing. Is this pineapple syrup?

[Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival] Clear golden. Grassy spicy nose. Light bodied with crisp mouthfeel. Dominated by grassy hops. Decent, especially for a beer with a "Bio"-label.

[Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival] Clear golden. Dry with medium body. Nice bready soft malt together a wealth of grassy hops makes this a pleasant little pilsener.

(Bottle 33 cl) Very pale pilsener golden with a small, rough, white head. A light malt aroma. A bit low in carbonation. Thin and sloppy body, malty with a sweetish note - perhaps the honey shining through? - and a wee metallic edge. Very discreet bitterness. Purely organic, but it doesn’t help much. 150606
