From tap at Deschutes Brewery, Portland. Aroma is freshly hopped with tropical fruits, lots of grapefruit, zesty orange peel and a soft pale malt backbone. Mildly sweetish, firm bitter. Body is medium. Yes, fresh squeezed is a perfect name for this very fruity well-rounded IPA.

This will be my first Black Butte to rate in a few years, just have not seen one until I picked up XXXVI at Total Wine in Fort Worth last November. The 12 oz bottle, labeled as being packaged on June 5, 2024, is being opened before a pour into an ABGB snifter. It arrives so dark brown as it might as well be black and is finished by a small ring of light tan, very fine bubbles. The smell is grand, there is dark fruit, grain, chocolate and berries. I take a drink, well, I can say it has been worth the wait. Bakers chocolate, wheat bread, strawberries, malt, raisins, vanilla and earth. A good amount of bitterness too. Though all the Black Buttes have been similar to me, this could be the best one.

Hazy gold, small white head. Piney bready nose. Big dank profile, harsh alcohol heat. Big bodied with a harsh unpleasant bitterness from hops and alcohol. Far too boozy
