GABF 2002: Red brown. Mild chocolatey aroma. Nice roasty mild flavor. Medium bitter finish.

Holiday seasonal strong ale, with a good balance between citrusy flavours, flowery hop; malt; and a soft fruitiness (apple, pear).

Dark brown colour, not so much carbo or head. Cheap chocolate aroma with a bit of nuttiness. Bog standard porter flavours with toastiness, hints of coffee and vague nuts. Thin body, spritzy off-dry finish. I’ve never understood the popularity of this beer and a decade after I first tried it Black Butte still fails to impress me.
