Microbrewery in Brandon Vermont.
Always experimenting and expanding
We brew in small batches in our 15 barrel brewery and we’re always experimenting with new recipes. Dan and Pat ,with previous experience from the wine world, get to marry the fascination with the natural world and the art and science of fermentation.
Dan keeps cooking up some good recipes and Patrick the builder keeps finding ways to add more tanks and increase our production.

22oz bottle pours out a apricot color topped with a white head. Nose is big floral hops melon citrus fruits and a nice sweetness. Taste is more of the heavy hops fruit melon caramel sweetness.

Keg at Blackback. Pours hazy gold with a creamy, white head. The nose has lots of dank hops, light onion, grapefruit. Medium sweet flavour with low bitterness, high dank quotient, rindy bitterness, melon, ple bread. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Resinous and citrusy to finish, more melon, tangerine, peach. Great beer.

Draught at Worthy Kitchen, 5/21/16.
Light peach-tinted golden with a soft haze and a white head that steadily recedes to cover.
Heavy citra and/or simcoe character in the nose shows dry lemon peel, spicy pine, with woody, dank resin and white grapefruit. Light undercurrent of alcohol heat produces a rather stiff, intense impression overall. Not exactly bursting with soft juiciness and fruits.
The flavor is even more given to the hard, dry citrus rind and pine-like resin. Not exactly "sour" hop character, but approaching that and with a big alcohol character, as well. Very dry, with only dextrine-like body and little/no actual sweetness. Fairly engaging carbonation, at least, helps things somewhat, but there’s just too much hard, dry citrus and burning alcohol and resin. Very far from the Foley Brothers I enjoy. Seems they’re trying way too hard to make beers that they didn’t start out with. Beers I think serve them really well (lighter, more flavorful, drinkable beers).
It is a bit of a shame that the temptation or probably more correctly, near-requirement that a new brewery make New England style pale ales to compete is a reality. But I guess that’s brewing; adapt or fold. I really enjoyed their brown ale and ginger ale and their East Coast (not New England) style IPA when they started out and was surprised they made such a push to beers like this so quickly.

Draft at Worthy Kitchen for $8.00. Color is golden with thin head. Aroma is grassy, onion Mosaic or Galaxy hop profile.
The flavor leans on grassy with some light fruit. Body is medium with a dry texture. The only flaw seem to be the slap of alcohol after the sip. Still pretty nice but I was shocked at how high it was rated when I looked. Not a 4 rating by any sense of the imagination by my palate.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a burnt orange color with floaties roaming all around. Slim finger-ed white foamy head quickly dissipates. Filmy white rimmed lacing roams all around.
The smell started off with the sweet danky onion and then the sweet grassy tones riding into a delicate bitter pine underneath.
The taste was moderately danky sweet with the bitter pine still underneath. Sweet onion dankiness to piney bitterness in the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body sitting between the sipping to sessionable quality nicely. Carbonation hits spot on. Piney hops hit in the bitter portion to play with a nice harsh feel as a DIPA.
Overall, wow, Foley Brothers, I always knew they did the IPA/DIPA thing well, but this, just wow and a half! This just might be Foley Brothers’ best one!

Been cellaring this one for a while, time to try. Pours a dark copper colour, looking like cola with red highlights. The head is huge, huge and stays forever (can I drink this someday ??). Coffee nose with some mild sweetness, roasted malts and dark fruits. When taking control of the head, so it would not overflow, could taste the maple a lot. The taste itself starts off with the roasted grains, the dark fruits and then, the syrup shows up some mild sweetness in the finish, with the coffee notes. Quite good, but does get a little rich after a full bottle !

Draught at Worthy Kitchen, 3/18/16.
Strong copper-orange body shows an initially large, white head that steadily fades to a ring. Clarity is pretty high, with only a bit of chill haze, if anything.
Light citra and such in the nose shows dry citrus; lemonpeel, orange rind, bits of juiciness and some softer pineapple and mango suggestions. Very light toasted malt character and some bread/biscuits. No alcohol, no flaws.
Attenuation is fairly strong in the mouth, though there’s maybe just a touch more sweetness than I’d like. Hops show a wide variety of citrus and tropical fruits, though the dry, rind-like character wins out. Slight toasted malt notes again add a bit of sourdough and the carbonation is fairly appropriate, perhaps a touch more loose than I’d like. Clean, though and with no alcohol. Pretty easy drinking.

New one by Foley Brothers.
On tap at The Blackback Pub, Waterbury, VT.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a glossy almost burnt yellow to orange transparent color. Rings of lacing rim the sides of the glass.
The smell takes on sweet and bitter pine. Light sweetly fresh cut grass accompanies with some sweet citrus. Has a light sweet dry lemon rind.
The taste was mainly the same semi-sharp bitter citrus rolls into a dry citrusy aftertaste and sliding into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation seemed to run good.
Overall, as an AIPA, I’d say that this was pretty good. I’d have this again. Foley Brothers is good at making the IPA’s.
