Tasted drought at Mike’s Place, Carleton U, Ottawa on 29 June 2011. After taking my notes I searched everywhere to find this beer which was named "Debt Rage Lager" there. Later I learned that this was the same beer. At the time I tasted it had pale yellow color, off-white spongy head, hoppy taste, high carbonation, cheesy aroma and medium finish. I found it to be a decent beer.

Originally rated March 2005. I use to buy a 6-pack of this brew every week in the summer when I lived in Ottawa, and drink it on my patio. Now I can’t seem to find it anywhere. From memory, it poured a golden lager colour. Looked plain and simple, but when the aromas of apple went floating in the air, that’s when the magic started. It was not like cider, nor was it a lambic or on the lees like Unibroue’s Ephemere Apple. It was just a good refreshing beer with hints of apples. It was very drinkable, expecially for someone like me who likes fruit beers.

Originally rated June 2005. So... finally learnt tonight that Moosehead had bought out Niagara Brewing Company a year or so ago. Also, now that Lakeport Honey Lager is taking a chunk out of Molson/Labatt, being one of the province of Ontario’s top ten beers (sold). Labatt decided to do a Honey one, and now this one. After the low carb brews of last years, now you must say honey on the label. This one pours a golden-amber colour with a small head that don’t last shit. Found no lace too. Carbonation is under average. Nose is of sweet malt with hints of alcohol and honey. Smooth beginning with a slight bitter finish. Mild syrupy mouthfeel. No sign of wheat, too bad, would be good for summer.... with a slight haze to the brew. Grain malt and alcohol also found in the taste. Not too bad, but had much better. Just hope to find their Apple Ale... which was my favorite from Niagara, years ago.

Originally rated October 2005. Pours a pale yellow colour with a big creamy-fizz white head. Good retention, lacing and medium carbonation. The nose is malty, but with some nice aromas of honey and mild fruit. Semi-syrupy mouthfeel. Taste very light with some grain malt and corn in the finish. Nothing important, but a decent plain lager. Good for starters.

Originally rated October 2005. Pours a pale amber colour with a bubbly medium head. Retention is not bad, but the lace is great. Sloppy, sticky and very micro-ish. The nose is sweet, malty and floral. Very nice smooth bitterness in the taste. Notes of caramel in the beginning and fruit in the finish. A very nice and surprising pale ale.

2004 edition (originally rated June 2005) - comes in a green wine bottle, but no cork, just a bottlecap. This Canadian Ice-bock pours an amber-red colour with lively tiny-bubble carbonation. The off-white head is creamy, and as it dissipates slowly, a thin layer coats the brew. The nose is roasted malts and apples. Nice creamy mouthfeel, very smooth. Taste the caramel is it is going down with the roasted malts. Good bitterness in the finish, with apple in the aftertaste. Beautiful lacing left as the brew goes down... and it goes down easy. I would try this anytime... as long as I am not driving.

Sample at the "Portland? Psh More Like Beerland" tasting on 03/10/10. Bottle courtesy of a traveling colleague. The beer is a clear dark amber color with a medium thin and foamy off-white head that dissipates slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Grainy malt and hops in the nose. Medium, smooth body with flavors of sweet malt, mildly bitter hops and a touch of molasses. The finish is malty with a lingering light hops aftertaste. Okay overall.
