Cask pint at the Leyton Orient Supporters Club. Can’t remember the ABV. Dark mahogany colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Moderate malty aroma, hints of mild coffee and chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel. Smooth flavour too, a slight residual sweetness makes the beer very drinkable. Moderate roast malts, mild coffee and chocolate again, moderate hops in the aftertaste.

Cask at the Carpenters Arms, Tourist Town Zentrum, 29/12/15. Black with a decent tan covering. Nose is dark fruits, toffee, spice, red berry, light cocoa. Taste comprises chocolate biscuit, light menthol, liquorice, , red berry fruits. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Decent spiced stout.

Cask at Craft Beer Rising 2014 - Brick Lane, London. Pours clear gold with a creamy white head. Decent citrusy hops, lemon and orange, pale bread. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation; good condition. Nicely balanced on the finish with further pleasant citrus hop notes, pale dough. Quite nice overall.

On tap at the Doric arch. Black with a tidy tan head. Aroma is sweet choc, roast, coco powder, some spicy hop. Flavour is nutty roast, choc, some raisin, slight cakey malts. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation. Not much hop.

Cask at the Kings Head - Mayfair, London. Pours clear, deep brown with a creamy beige head. Charred malts in the aroma with hints of dark fruits. Lightly sweet with subtle ashy roast, cocoa, earth, dried fruits. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Perhaps a touch bland in the finish, but you do get a bit more ashy roast, mild cocoa, slight earthy bitterness and impressions of aged dark fruits. Not bad overall.

Cask at the Kings Head - Mayfair, London. Pours clear copper with a creamy, off-white head. The nose has some damp bread, leaves, old berries. Light sweet flavor, bland, with grainy malts, leathery berries, twig and leaf. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly toasted grains in the finish, light bready sugars, more bitter leaves and old, leathery berries. So so.
