Several keg pints in that old boozer down the end of Middx St! Almost clear gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly crisp. Clean pale malts. Mild citrus fruits, little citric peel - tangy. Light finish. Clean and sessionable.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours clear copper-gold, lightly effervescent, with a frothy, off-white head. Grainy, lightly toasted malts in the nose, with some crackers, old orange rind, pine. Light to medium sweet flavour, a little abrasive, with husky grains, light caramel, ripe orange, bitter citrus rind, grass. Light in body with average carbonation. More rindy and grassy bitterness in the finish, slight oily pine, more toasted grains, dry caramel, brown bread, leaves. Not bad, but quite basic. Kind of a 10-years-ago IPA.

Cask at The Falcon, CJ. It pours darkest brown / near black with a small light tan head. The nose is bitter - sweet, rich roast, charred malt, light acidity, spice and dark fruits. The taste is bitter - sweet , roasted malt, chocolate, toast, some acidity, dark fruits, spice and fruit cake. Light - medium body and soft carbonation. Perhaps a touch thin, but it is a decent enough spiced stout anyways.

Cask @ Sawyers Arms, Manchester. Very dark, but not quite black. It’s a very floral stout, with its nose especially potent in this respect. There’s a few roasted malts to be found, but not many.

Cask at the New Leathern Bottle, Winkfield. Dark straw with a tight white head; aroma of grain and yeast; smooth grainy body, with a sweet fruity taste, and a light bitterness; and a biscuity finish.

Cask @ Sawyers Arms, Manchester. Dark amber coloured ale with a small creamy head. Has some mild pale malts fused with a more obvious fruitiness in both aroma and taste.

Cask halfpint at the Argyll Arms. Copper colour, moderate off-white head. Malty aroma, a little fruit too. The medium dry flavour has some some tingling fruity and earthy hops, on a sufficient malty background with some toffee. Decent bitterness in the finish.
