Bottle from Beer Gonzo. Black body with a thick beige head. Good lacing. Aroma of mashed blueberries and charred wood. Flavour of furniture polish, bitter lemon and underripe brambles. Medium body with a smooth, creamy texture. Light fizz. I like this brewery’s output but I found this particular beer to be quite harsh. As a hop head I would never normally say this about any beer, but this might be too hoppy as the tanginess seemed to overwhelm the rich malt flavours.

Bottle from Connolly’s Wines, Solihull. Poured a clear medium brown with a huge frothy light tan head. The aroma is malt, dry yeast, red berry floral hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a dry, slightly tart, earthy, mineral fruity, light alcohol palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Overactive beige head immediately disappeared leaving a fizzing time bomb of red oak liquid. Woody, syrup aroma. thin as water on the palate - feels like a sparkling sweet juice. Then the taste............ over sweet, over spiced with false flavours. Absolutely diabolical.

Bottle shared in CW - sourced from Beer Gonzo. Pours mostly clear gold with a big, frothy white head. Lots of herbs in the nose, wheat bread, yeast. Light sweet flavour with more prominent herbal character, flakes wheat. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes with some citrus rind, dry pith, more herbs. Not bad.

Bottle shared in London - sourced from Beer Gonzo. Pours clear gold with a frothy, white head. The nose holds some pithy lemon, grapefruit, hay, grass. Light sweet flavour with mellow grassy bitterness, pine needles, more pith. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with some grassy bitterness, lemon rind, pine, pale grains. Not bad.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear medium brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is malt, chocolate vanilla, coffee. The flavour is moderate sweet light bitter with a light watery sweet malt, bubbly palate and a bubbly mouthfeel. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.
