BB 02/02/2017. almost black color, quite big coffee-colored head. smells earthy, licorice, spices, light berry notes. light body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of ash, licorice, earthy, light caramel. finishes lightly earthy bitter and roasty with notes of licorice and light ash. quite decent, especially considering the low ABV.

Bottle. [ As Twisted Barrel Beast of a Midlands Mild ].Clear dark red brown color with a small to small average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, toasted - roasted, chocolate, barrel, wood. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, wood, dark malt, malt bitter, chocolate. Eebria. Keg. Hazy gold beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Airy malts, mildly sweet. Orange peel hops. Minerals. Mild bitterness in the dry finish. Clean.

Bottle from Bridgend Service Station. Hazy bronze body with a medium off-white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of toffee, copper and banana. Flavour of wood, bread, spices, fig and rusty metal. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A pretty good effort but I felt it would have benefited from greater malt sweetness.

On keg, half pint, shared with Finn at Bread and Roses. Solid lacing from a frothy white head. Cloudy. dark golden body. Ripe citrus nose. Taste of orange and grapefruit followed by resinous bitterness to the finish. easy to drink with session qualities (Plymouth 25.09.2016).

Keg at Ubrew. It pours hazy deep orange with a small off-white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, orange marmalade, kumquat, tinned peach, tangerine and candied peel. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter, pithy citrus, piney, orange peel, marmalade, kumquat, soapy with a dry, zesty finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Not bad. The taste doesn’t quite live up to the aroma.
