Tap at the Birmingham Beer Bash, 2016. Poured a clear reddish dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is big roasty malt, molasses, chocolate, coffee. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter with a rich, dry, smoky, dry coffee liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

On tap at Eebria Taproom Bermondsey. Dark brown beer lasting tan head. Malty beer. Would work better on cask. It’s a malty best bitter but lacks the wide lower carbonated mouth feel malt fruit english fruits hedgerow. Pepper. Pretty good.

Bottle. Cotteridge. Gingery amber. Light haze. Dense, fine, off white head. Nose has gluey, stewed, fruity hop. Notes of pineapple and toffee. Hint of passion fruit and fruity malt. Robust, to say the least. Taste is oily, fusel bitter. Big, oily chew. Some sweet lippage. Long, fruity, oily, resinous bitter finish. Gets stone fruit earthy on the close. Big beer.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark black pour with a massive tan head, aroma has dark fruits, liquorice and some roast, taste has chocolate, some coffee, light roast, liquorice, dark fruits, some charred wood.

Keg at The Twisted Barrel Brewery Tap, Coventry, Friday 8th July 2016 Pours more orange/light amber than the gold I was expecting, really lively pour so huge frothy white head initially. Resin, orange, a little marmalade juicy, fruity, lots going on here but quite a thick and substantial mouthfeel. Lovely bittersweet balance, tasty beer, like it. We had four half’s of this beer. A7 A3 T8 P4 Ov16 3.8

Keg at The Twisted Barrel Brewery Tap, Coventry, Friday 8th July 2016 Pours hazy sunshine gold with a slim white head atop. Soft in the mouth, initially it is a little warming but pleasantly so. The smokiness and chipotle are both very nice, it’s all done very well and integrates nicely but ultimately you know it is a Saison, the Saison yeast and flavours come through well. Keg at The Twisted Barrel Brewery Tap, Coventry, Friday 8th July 2016 Pours Reddy amber in colour with a busy white head (very lively on the pour) the chap who brewed this stated that he’d primed it at a bit too much hence the liveliness, I wrongly assumed that it might be a tad sweet but it had a good bitterness and nice balance, how’s used Endeavour and forgot the other. Fruity with a bitter linger, a little citrussy. It’s good. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.7
