Description
The Rothaus Brewery was founded 1791 through the Benedictine monastery St. Blasien in the “Zum Rothen Haus” inn (“To the Red House” in English). Following the secularizations of 1806, the Rothaus Brewery fell out of the hands of the monks and became property of the Grand Duchy of Baden and was renamed the “Großherzogliche Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus” (Grand Ducal State Brewery Rothaus of Baden). The November Revolution of 1918, which led to the abolition of the monarchy in Baden, caused the company to shorten their name to Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus (State-owned brewery of Baden), as from then on the brewery was owned by the federal state of Baden.
Since 1922, the company has had the legal form of a stock corporation, the shares of which are currently held entirely by the associated company of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The continuously large demand for Rothaus beer has in the past made large investments necessary. This allowed the Rothaus Brewery to grow into one of the most modern facilities in Germany.

Bottled. A golden beer with and orangey head. The aroma is sweet and dominated by lemon, and so is the flavor, though the sweetness is very artificial in the flavor.

33cl bottle. Pours golden, white head. Aroma is hoppy and piney with honey. Taste of pine, floral, grainy, sweet close to honey. After taste remains grainy, wheat with the usual pils. Nothing special, quite refreshing and drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a light golden with thin white head. Aroma is hoppy / wheat and light pine forest nose. Taste is fizzy, grainy with some wheat / barley and malt. A little thick to the palate, lighty sugary. There is this typical German metalic / pilsner taste. I was looking forward to this beer being filled with pine and herbs, bit I was rather disappointed.

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a crispy white head. Mild grassy and light malt aroma. Light sweet corn note too. Mild spiced and cornish to malty flavour. Mild bitterness showing through towards the finish. Smooth finish with a light caramel malt note to balance the bitterhops.
