Copper/honey like color..dirty foam (stained)..not much substance, simple tasty finish, mild hops, no real aroma...mix with a hint of guilt...delish!!

Not bad, but it shows some of the inherent flaws of the style. Pours with abig piney/resiny hop nose, with afternotes of sweat, and just a hint of grapefruit. The flavor starts off smooth and soft with a light juicy malt, hop flavors lightly spicy and musky but subdued, but then a strong finishing bitterness. The malts seemed light at first and became noticeably watery as the beer warmed, equalling a hop juice. Needs heft. Golden color with a big white head and long lacing.

Bottle with wax over bottlecap. 2006 vintage. Pour is absolutely beautiful. Wonderful copper color with a one finger tight head that dies down quickly and is already starting to lace on the sides of the glass. The surface of the beer is now left with a film of the tiniest bubbles. As it is warming the aromas are getting better and better. Pineapple and caramel are the main draws, and while not overpowering or remarkably complex, it is nice. Flavor is OK... caramel malt is the backbone, but there are lots of little side currents that please... the pineappley hops, the dark fruit and molasses like tang, the alcohol’s warmth. The one knock that I’d make is that it has a very thin mouthfeel for a BW.

Bottle (big thanks to JOSS !) Reddish amber coloured, huge rocky off-white head, hazy; impressive aromatic-hoppy (flowery, citrusy) nose; moderate bitter flavour, mainly dry, light bodied; almost a touch of Riesling in the lingering, dry, hoppy finish. A light, but extremely aromatic brew.......no Stairway to Heaven, but very good !

12 oz. Bottle at 810 Zone in Leawood, KS. Served too cold, initial taste was a bit thin. Hoped it would be denser when it warmed, but it wasn’t. All of the traditional flavors are there, roast, coffee, malt, yet the body is too thin and the flavors too muted for this one to matter much.

Tap. Pours amber, with a smallish head. Aroma is a bit sweet a faint touch of malt. Taste is pretty simple and thin. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Malts are more forward than hops and spices, though all three present themselves in aroma and taste. Copper pour and light beige head that diminishes to a pool of tight bubbles. Sweet and earthy malty aroma with floral hops in the background. The flavor is herbal, slightly sweet and slowly bitter. Allspice shows up int the background and finish. Thick and comfortable mouthfeel. Nice carbonation. Interesting, but this seems a little off kilter.

12 oz bottle - Pours copper with a thin head and a bit of lacing. It was a very good citrus hops aroma. The flavor is well balanced and as expected the citrus hops taste leads the way. Medium bodied with a long, hoppy finish, Boulder Beer has done very good things with Amarillo hops here.

Clear ruby pour, with pretty much no head to speak of - the aroma is oddly tart, with notes of cherries and some spice, almost like a kriek, but the background alcohol and caramel malt remind you it’s a barleywine - thin bodied, with a rather weak flavor - some cherry and spices are present, with moderate bitterness - some light phenolic flavor - finishes with sythetic, corn syrup sweetness - way out of balance, and not terribly flavorful.
