Bottle courtesy of Beerandblues2: Poured a clear medium amber color ale with a small foamy head with limited retention. Aroma of bitter hops is dominating with some notes of alcohol and sugar. Taste is way too hoppy for my own taste in barleywine with some medium sugar and light alcohol peak. Body is slightly too light with some medium carbonation. Overall, I thought this was too hoppy and bitter and generally lacking some character.

Light orange with a small ring of froth - strong amarillo aroma, with some light grass, herbs, and pine - a bit thin on the palate for such a strong beer, but the alcohol is well-hidden - lightly sweet malt profile; this is a fairly dry IIPA - crisp, earthy and herbal - not a lot of distinct flavors happening here aside from the hops - I like amarillo hops a bunch, but I could use a little more going on behind them - pretty thin and uninteresting, even for a "regular" IPA - the alcohol starts becoming very evident as it warms, and the burn starts making it difficult to drink - I’m pretty sure I’m done with this brewery.

22 oz bomber poured deep gold with thin white head. It smells like wedges of grapefruit sitting on a bed of pine needles. Behind that there’s some sweet malt mixed with the grapefruit to create a sweet orange candy aroma. The flavor seems to be bitter pine and grapefruit hops that slowly sweeten to about midway. Then the bitterness builds but doesn’t get too out of control. The more of this beer I consume the more the grapefruit shines through.

Bottle: Clear, gold pour with lots of foamy white head. Nose of strong citrus and floral hops, a little pine. Taste is real dry with floral hops, pine, lighter on the citrus hops. Light sweetness before a crisp, hop bitters in the tail. A good IPA, but sort of non-descript.

Bottle. Pour is a nice coppery brown color... head is about one finger high of dense, tan foam. Scents are slightly sweet but mostly spicy. Coriander? Flavor has tons of spice to it... it is the main focus and really gets in the way of everything else. There is a slight flavoring of grain dust/chalk at the end of the sip, but everything else plays second fiddle to a white pepper, coriander, fennel spicing that comes off better than I expected. Heck... I kind of like it when it’s nice and cold outside... could have a bit more malt and a little higher ABV to balance out the spiciness, but pretty good as is.

Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Inn in North Huntington PA this beer poured a bright golden color with a very small white head. The aroma was strong fruity, piney and spicy hops. The flavor was strong sweet citric and piney hops. The hops are crisp and burst upon the tongue. The finish is long, crisp and a bit spicy. The beer hides the alcohol content very well.

Draft: Orange copper pour with a large off-white head and great lacing. Aroma is mostly citrus hops with some florals and malt backer. Taste is citrus hops, hints of floral, and malts. Pretty standard pale ale, but well done.

Bottle: Dark brown pour with a large tan head and good lacing. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Taste is mostly roasted malt with hints of coffee and cocoa. Mild intensity. Pretty ho-hum. Nice full body and easy to drink, but was served well under the recommended temperature.

"Loose" 12 oz. bottle from Sam’s Wines, Downrs Grove. Opens to a nice smell of coffee, molasses, a touch of smoke, and cola. Pours a proper dark color, but with a fizzy, short-lived head. Despite that, a nice enough taste. Some rich chocolately porter malts, more of that smoke, but not too much. Again, the carbonation is too heavy for this style. OK beer. No date, but neck label celebrates the brewery’s 25th anniversary in 2004.

A deep dark porter with a thick dark creamy moka head. Aroma of chocolate and cheap coffee, a bit oxidized. In mouth, a rathe rlight sweet chocolate taste, no hopping present, short in mouth, signs of oxidation. Bottle was bought at BOTW, Oct. 2006, 1.30$.
