Schooner on tap at Club Rivers, Riverwood. Treacle brown colour with a thin white head. Nose is milk chocolate with a touch of cocoa. Good lacing, slightly effervescent with initial bitter coffee notes. Finish is more milk coffee with a very very faint hint of coconut. Really if you drank this blind you would say 'nice coffee porter', the coconut is ephemeral. Still, nice porter!

Can. Pretty clear amber with a whitening head that settles the a cm. Aroma of pine, kumquat, underripe mango, toast. Brusque. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Firm but lean malt, slightly toasted. Some fruit, lots of peppery pine. Finish is resinous and very bitter. Pretty strong for what it offers but its clean, straightforward approach is refreshing in more ways than one. Curious how their Icon 2IPA was so ahead of its time (very hazy, soft texture, juicy Kiwi hops and esters, restrained bitterness) and yet Murray's -- having seemed to have struggled to be relevant in Australia in recent times -- fronts up here with a bit of a throwback US hopped IIPA. But a good one.

375ml can into schooner. Golden beer with large crown of foam on top. High fine carbonation. Laces a little. Nose is pine needles, resin, wood shavings, overripe fruit. Full bodied with a taste of bitter fruit. The finish is earthy, fruity and bitter with touches of 80% cocoa dark chocolate. Well balanced and stupidly easy to drink at 8.5%!

From a 375ml can on 9/6/2018. Pours a clear deep golden with a medium head. The nose is mainly piney and resiny hops. Starts off with some biscuit malt and light sweet fruit, which is smacked around by a really intense resiny, piney tongue coating hop bitterness. Fullish body with moderate carbonation. At the start, i thought it might be a disappointment and it seemed a bit rough and harsh, but I warmed to it as it warmed up, revealing a decent amount of complexity. Probably not quite my cup of tea when as comes to an IIPA as I like 'em a bit sweeter, but still pretty good, and certainly worth checking out if you're a huge hop fiend.
