Description
Brewery De Graal (the name is Dutch for 'the grail') is a young Belgian artisanal, yet automated, brewery located in Brakel, in the heart of the beautiful region that is commonly called 'the Flemish Ardennes'. The brewery of graduate brewer Wim Saeyens started in early 2002, and has known a consistent growth ever since. In the summer of 2016 the brewery moved to a new building.
Continuous investments in the latest brewing technologies have made it possible for brewery De Graal to keep up with the increasing demand for high quality beers. The export market to countries such as the US, Japan, Italy and Denmark is particularly on the rise. In addition to the main activity, the brewing of six different beers under its own De Graal brand name, the brewery is also specialized in producing custom-made specialty beers.

Good off-white head, fast gone over hazy straw to olive-coloured beer. Very nice hoppy nose, both EU as USA, hopbales, and yes, straw or hay. Fresh, hop-dominated taste, grapey but not citrussy, dry garden herbs and generally delicate-flowery - lime blossoms. Medium bodied, but refreshing. Extremely nice beer, delicate in the EU/USA combination. Let the imitators of USA IPA’s try this first, before blundering on.

Cloudy brown color; thin creamy head. Bice aroma, malt, perfumy, caramel, candi sugar. Medium body structure; mainly caramel taste, with a touch of roasted malts, strong bitterness (with light traces of hops), some steady woodiness. Solid and good.

Cloudy golden color; frothy head. The aroma is both malty and spicy. Same for the flavor, with stronger malt and stronger spice touch (coriander and light juniper), ending with a bold bitterness. Good.

A hazy orange beer with a thick off-white head. The aroma is powerful, sweet, spicy, fruity (especially peaches) and alcoholic. The flavor is very sweet and very both fruity and spicy, the fruits are mostly peaches, while the spices are primarily cinnamon, coriander, and cloves. The alcohol makes the body thick, and prickles the tongue.

LCRBM2. Cloudy orange gold colour. Ashtray smoke and chemical aroma. It does get better in the mouth, but I thought that this was nasty.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy amber golden with a small, off-white head. Weird, chemical smoked aroma - sort of like asphalt and tar. Medium body with distinct, smoked accents. No real bitterness. Horribly unpleasant. I thought this was off, but reading the other reviews this really seems to be the norm. 130806

Bottle Orange, hazy body with an off-white rocky head. Very lovely view. Nose of hops, yeasts. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet initial flavour. Moderately bitter finish. Some typical yeast flavours of Marc De Bondt, creator of this beer. Not bad, a nice bitter Belgian ale.
