Bottle from Food and Friends Pours a hazy medium gold color with a decent sized off white head that persists for a while. While there was no huge pop when I opened it, it did try to self pour out of the bottle. The aroma is lightly non descript fruit with a solid caramel malty back with lots of clove and other spices. I had to edit this a little, because as this warms the raspberries and cherries really come out in the nose. The flavor is caramel prune and yeasty spice for the most part. The fruit flavor of raspberry and cherry are subtle but the tartness shines through pretty well. A hint of alcohol and a prominent orange marmalade thing round out the flavor. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet slick mouthfeel. Decent beer, but overall I feel that flavors are competing here rather than complimenting each other.

22 oz. bottle from a trade. Deep brown color with thin white head. The nose is dominated chocolate malts with peanuts skins and molasses. Real nice nose. Flavor is pretty much the same with the addition of some toffee and a mild Earthy hop. Medium-full body with a slight creamy texture. A very good brown ale, above average.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick, black and oily with a small foamy brown head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sweet toasted caramel, chocolate and bread dough. The flavor was sweet and malty chocolate syrup, strong coconut, faint vanilla and anise. Very long sweet chocolate syrup and coconut finish. Full bodied. Fantastic.

Sampled on draft at the Pints For Pets brewfest this beer poured a murky yellow-peach color with a small soapy/creamy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was semi sweet, yeasty and musty with faint tropical fruits and peach. The flavor was dry, tart, bitter, perfumey and flowery. Long dry perfume and Windex finish. Medium body. A bit disappointing.

Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 Beers this beer poured a black color with a small soapy beige head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was cocoa powder, coffee, faint cola and anise. The flavor was cocoa, vanilla, marshmallow, a bit of roasty malts and touches of anise, cola and coffee. Long cocoa, coffee, roasty malt and vanilla finish. Moderately full bodied. Very nice and exceptionally flavorful for such a low alcohol brew.
