Description
Renaissance brewing was established in 2005 when experienced brewers Andy Deuchars and Brian Thiel purchased the lease on the historic Grove Mill in Blenheim. Andy and Brian, both natives of Southern California, had one goal in mind - to produce stunning beers in a region more renowned for the excellence of its wines. We are committed to using local ingredients and are one of the pioneers of craft brewing in New Zealand.

On tap at Bierlokaal Uiver. Guess it's this entry, although ABV was stated at 11.8%. Dark ruby brown colour, no head. Aroma of Port wine, raisins, figs, dried fruits, some caramel, hint of roast, very vinous and syrupy. Flavour is thick, sweet, malty, raisins, oxidised wine, Port, Madeira, syrup, dried fruits, bitter finish. Full bodied, thick, flat. Good dessert beer.

Tap at Beer Geek. Alcohol lightly coming across. Full body and low carbonation. Light feel of fresh cut grass. Otherwise mostly malty, deep nutty toffee character. Rather sweet. Good, but not great.

Bottle @ home. Slightly hazy light amber colour with a medium sized white head. Smells and tastes bitter, hops, slightly vegetable. More fruitiness would've been nice. Medium body, nice carbo.
