Bottled, 2003 edition. What can I add to these raves? It’s just some kind of mad beer. Pours a "bright" brown that doesn’t make you think of barley wine just yet. Nice tan head on top. Mouthfeel is sticky, even for a barleywine, and rough like a buckwheat honey. This is full of rough edges, yet I wanted to savor every one of them. Couldn’t figure the malt presence, but toward the end of the sample, my upper lip was curled slightly inward.

A clear amber beer with a small head. The aroma contains lots of aroma hops. The flavor is sweet hoppy with notes of caramel and a dry end. But the body is thin.

2001 vintage at Akkurat I mostly get marzipan, dark chocolate and nuts in the aroma. Hazy brown coloration. Flavors of chocolate, wood, cognac raisins and plums and tons of stuff I forgot to write down. A slight burn in the end. Wood aftertaste. Definetely a barleywine I would love to re-rate with a bit more time on my hands...

Bottle: Poured a dark black colored beer with almost no head. Aroma is comprised of a strong chocolate and coffee mix. The chocolate and coffee also hits you right at the first sip along with some roastiness. A bit too much bitterness at the end for my liking though. Carbonation is bit weak and body is strong which was expected. Overall, this is a very good drink but maybe not as much as some make it out to be… Re-rate Dec 2008: Well done with loads of chocolate and coffee notes and a full body. Upgrading rating to 4.1

Dark black stout with a nice vanilla , raisin and chocolate aroma. Nice rich chocolate malts, and surprinsgly, they didnt go overboard on hops in this. Some smokinees in aftertatse with a fine balance of hops. Nice bodied and pleasant.

Bottle. Dark beer with a hint of ruby color that sports a big beige head. huge roasted malt and coffee aroma with a slight underlying hop presence. Tons of roasted malt, some coffee, molasses, and raisins with a lingering bitterness and a dry finish. If you want tons of roasted malts in your imperial stout, you’ll love this one. Hides alcohol well.

Bottle Pours a hazy tan/amber with a little head and thin lacing. Aroma is sweet and fruity and malty with a hint of spice and cloves. Yeast and malt are up front. Sweet spices also. Feel is a bit cloudy/chalky but smooth. Finish is pleasant. Just OK

North coast has come up with a couple of beers that I have liked in the past so I jumped at the chance to try this one. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this brew poured a very cloudy medium orange-golden color with a small white head. A very nice looking wheat - particularly with the large amount of sediment. I like my wheats cloudy. The aroma was sweet, spicy and had a hint of orange. The flavor was predominantly malt and spice with some vague citrus flavor that seemed almost an afterthought. Not much wheat could be tasted on this one but the hop presence was noticeably stronger that what I have become used to in American Wheats. Sadly, I doubt that I would bother to purchase this one again, although it was not bad by any means.

BottlePours black with a dark tan creamy head and nice lacing. Aroma is of bunrt charcoal and coffee. Taste is a very dark roast, smokey coffee flavor. A little extra carbonation than other stouts. Feel is rich thick and smooth. Nice fnish with aproppriate bitterness and smokey taste. The ABV is masked well. Very good. Even if the picture looks like he's maing the "loser" sign.

Bottle: Poured a dark red colored beer with a nice head with medium retention. Aroma is quite nice with floral hops. Taste is even nicer with a hops heavy taste leaving a quite important bitter finish. Could have profited of more spice and a bit less hops; I believe taste would have been more subtle and complex. I’m still looking forward to trying more products from North Coast.
