Clear deep red with medium beige head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel and fruity notes. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, caramel and mild hoppy notes. Ends somewhat bitter.

Black body with a rusty-brown tint. Roasted malty aroma. Sweet malts in flavour added a touch of salt. Dry ending. Mildly palate and a bit too light for a stout (cask at GBBF, 05.08.2008).

Bottle: Poured a thick motor oil black brown with a thin edge filling beige head. Aroma is sweet with licorice and coffee. Taste roasted coffee with a bitter tingle to the tip of the tongue.

50 cL bottle. Pours golden deep hazzlenutbrown with a creamy light tan head. Spiced and caramel malty aroma. Flavour is medium dry caramel malty with a tobacco spiced hops flavour following. Goes reasonably bitter after this and into the finish. Light fruity note appearing from the hops too.

50cl bottle from my Irish buddy; Garthicus! Nose of chocolate, roasted coffee, and an oatmeal cereal note; black with brown edges and a big, glass-lacing beige head; flavor is coffee, chocolate, a little white pepperiness, and a smidgeon of hop bitterness; finish is coffee and a bit of bitterness.

Brown bottle, 500 ml, purchased at the LCBO, savoured on June 17 2008; eye: black with mahogany reflections, opaque, voluminous cappuccino head that turns into a ring, lots of lacing; nose: coffee, roasted malt, light acidity, vanilla, lightly stale; mouth: thin, roasted malt, light acidity, dry finale in diluted roasted malt with a good presence of dry bitterness, lightly acrid, lightly lactic, mildly bitter, medium body, not much carbonation, light astringency; overall: so? FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 500 ml, achetée à la LCBO, savourée le 17 juin 2008; œil : noire avec des reflets acajou, opaque, mousse cappuccino volumineuse qui tombe et se transforme en un anneau, beaucoup de dentelle; nez : café, malt torréfié, légère acidité, vanille, léger éventé; bouche : mince, malt torréfié, légère acidité, finale sèche en malt torréfié dilué avec une bonne présence d’amertume sèche, légère âcreté, légèrement lactique, moyennement amère, corps moyen, peu carbonatée, légère astringence; en résumé : bof!

50 cL bottle. Pours black with a tan head, slowly diminishing. Roasted aroma, light acidic note. Dry roasted flavour, thin body and light acidic roasted flavours into the finish. Quite hardroasted and somewhat simple towards thinbodied.

(75 cl bottle at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Göteborg) On April 20, 2008. Black color, brown head. Sweet chocolate scent, malty and salt as well. Salty, bitter, metallic, malty taste. Moussy mouthfeel. Medium bitterness.
