Big aromas of dark ripe fruits, raisins, plums, and some big thick bready malts. Waves of caramel, boozy fruit cake, pudding, and the rosemary surprisingly comes though a little in the aroma, and it adds some depth of earthness to the flavor. A light bitter finish, with a pleasant sweet malty finish. A grea sipper.

2009 bottle, thanks Ryan!
Pours a deep brown, looks like flat cola. Aroma us super complex! Oak, dark fruits, plums, figs, dates, vanilla, mollasses, brown sugar and booze. Flavour is very rich, the alcohol warms and actually tingled. The carb is super low but works well. Super complex but so enjoyable. There is a great sweet brown sugar vanilla finish that sticks and us wonderful. Amazing stuff!

version 2009.
amazing aroma of funk, sour cherries, and oak. Incredible flavor of sour cherries, sour funk, and that great wet hay you would get from a world class lambic. I’m super impressed with the beers ability to duplicate that amazing lambic sourness and funk. Incredible beer! in my opinion on par with a cantillon lamic.

Interesting take on this style of beer. I’ve had some beers from thsi style from France, and they all seemed to be quite pilsener in flavour with some shrap hops, this was the opposite. This was a cloudy murky caramel color. lots of caramel and some ripe apples, and pears in the aroma, along with some bready malts. Flavour is smooth, and creamy with some more BIG caramel notes. Finishes quite sweet, interesting take on the style. but really on the other side of the coin its bang on for the style. i enjoyed it.

Bottle at Mondiale ’07
Looks very much like a saison. Nice orange color with LOADS of carbonation bubbles assaulting the beer. Aroma is quite peppery, spicy, and a nice tart sourness to it. Flavour is much of the same, and the pepper really comes through, very nice saison.

Quite dark cloudy brown color. not much head to speak of.
Aroma is VERY sweet, lots of raisin, and plum and borwn sugar, with some yeasty notes. Flavour is VERY sweet, and boozey. Mouthfeel is quite thick this is very syrup like. I have to admit i was disapointed. I expected more after the hype i had heard. Its not an awful beer, but i expected more from this brewery.

Aroma of fruity esters, yeast, citrus, spices, ripe fruits, malt, hint of grapefruit, floral notes, orange peel, hoppy notes. Flavour is sweet and a bit tart with a moderate bittersweet finish. Wonderfully complex. Belgian Triple ish but also has Saison characteristics. Any way, I loved this beer.

Bottle at De Koffer, Groningen. Complex aroma is malty, sour red fruits, tart cherries, oak, caramel, vinegar, raisins, funky yeast. Flavour is quite sour with a touch of malty sweetness. Body is medium. Wow, wonderfully complex and strong sour flavour. A great Belgian-style Sour Ale!

Bottle at home. Aroma is fruity, apricot, barnyard funk, tart fruits, hops, bready malt, spicy yeast. Flavour is light sweet and bitter with a dry finish. Body is medium. Ridiculously smooth and balanced, typical Lost Abbey quality, great Saison-ish Belgian Ale.
