Description
It’s 2015. Beer lovers and founders Michael Kennedy, Brian Siep, Tom St John and Greg Smith are frustrated by the lack of good craft beer produced in Paris and decide to do something about it. Their first collaboration is the Paname Brewery Taphouse in 19th district of Paris. It’s a success, and a few years later, in June 2018, they open a full production site at the Cité Fertile in the heart of Pantin, a historic industrial suburb reinventing itself at the edge of Paris.
Today, thanks to the efforts of Paname Brewing Company and others, the quality of the craft beer available in Paris is much better. The team will always be committed to making great beer, and now they have an additional mission. To support those who are reinventing and refreshing Paris, particularly in the east.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 21C). Can 33 cl - Batch 2025310 (BB: 10/2027). AROMA: medium hop aroma (pine, slight dried grass and grapefruit). very faint neutral malt wort background. APPEARANCE: very pale yellow color and hazy, low white head with no retention. TASTE: initial medium hop flavor (pine, faint lime, lychees and grapefruit) with a neutral and very faint worty background. balanced medium bitterness. finishes somewhat dry and bitter. MOUTHFEEL: medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: an OK non-alcoholic IPA-style, very drinkable.

Gets the style pretty well. Had some good and meaty dark malts, nice restrained smoke, burnt toffee, roast, a little ash, cooked ham, nips of raisin. Could maybe do with a touch more bitterness. But overall it’s smooth and well drinkable.

Very basic stuff. Notes of sugary sun-kissed bread, some grain, jammy citrus accents. So so balance, a hint of pine needle, oranges, bready malts. Drinkable but not anything special.

330ml bottle in Pays Basaque after completing the French Divide. Pours a clear pale gold, frothy white head. Pleasant malty blonde with a nice bittersweet bite.

2 February 2025. New Year Tasting with Tim & Anke - cheers! Can from V and B Nanterre.
A: cloudy black, stable, foamy, beige head.
A: charcoal, toast, earth, fried mushroom, grapefruit peel.
T: sweetish brambleberry, bitter toast, grapefruit, bit umami.
F: earthy & piney hops, bitter grapefruit, roasted coffee, toast.
P: medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation.
Quite good, despite the middle-of-the-road hop profile. Nice to see that a relatively niche beer style (and still relatively well executed at that) was chosen to celebrate a launch in one of the most commercial game series ever.

Can: Poured a clear black color porter with a large off-brown foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some smoked notes. Taste is also a mix of chocolate malt notes with some smoked malt and light residual sugar notes. Body is thin with good carbonation. Enjoyable smoked porter with easy drinking features.
