Description

First beer from a new beer company, seeking to evocate the Belgian coast and its dunes; apparently the first attempt at making this included buckthorn berries, but this proved fatal for the head formation so they were eventually left out; burnet rose hips are still included, however. Lightly lacing, creamy, stable, egg-white head over a cloudy peach blonde beer with ochre hue. Aroma is quite attractive and original: red apple, redcurrant, lemon zest, fresh grass, flowers, white bread and indeed a faint hint of rose hips not unlike Roosvicee, a Dutch brand of rose hip soft drinks. Fruity flavour, sour berries, some unripe pineapple, refreshing, a bit bready with a slight drying sourishness in the end but very subtle and clearly coming from the rose hips, along with lightly bittering, herbal hops. Enjoyable.

Second beer from this brewery, a dubbel with light yellowish beige, stable, moussy head and deep, clear mahogany brown colour. Aroma of generic chocolate, coffee grounds, hazelnuts, brown sugar, pear syrup, banana, raisins, thyme, kahlua. Sweet raisin flavour in onset with a sourish balance to it, orange peel, smooth caramelly malts, sweetish with a milk chocolate accent and a light roasted bitterness in the end, ever so slightly coffeeish and vaguely porter-like, toasted as well, some herbal hops in the end and warming alcohol. Not bad at all.

16/V/15 - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ the Abeels (NL) - BB: 16/II/17 (2015-638)

Note: damn backlog, could've been first! :p
Little cloudy deep brown beer, creamy irregular beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: dried fruits, caramel, banana, some milk chocolate. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty roasted, some caramel, dried fruits, banana, peel, pretty bitter. Aftertaste: dark chocolate, alcohol, bitter, banana, not bad, but a bit too much alcohol.

Bottle @ benzai. Hazy yellow colour with a medium sized white carbo. Smells bile, sour, nasty. Tastes sourish, some malts. Thin body, almost no carbo.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Clear yellow golden color, small to average sized white head that leaves fair lacing. Aroma is malts, a slight sourish herbal hint. Don’t get anything else. Taste malts, again a light sourness, orangepeel, fruitpeel sour-bitter finish. Average body, medium carbonation.

Donkerbruin licht troebel bier met veel schuim. Smaak is zoet en licht bitter rokig met sporen van chokolade en anijs. Best goed bier, echter blijft niet erg lang hangen en komt wat waterig over.

Off-white head, dwindling despite lively carbonation from a murky orange beer. Sharp yeasty-spicy nose; old sport shoes, orangepeel, rainwater, wet dog. Carbonated orange, orangelemonade diluted with soda. Slight bitterness and a sourish finish, fruity, aided by the carbonation. At the edge of overcarbonation, and the beer yet ends lame, visually. Light body, slick. Whom are you targetting with this?? Tourist traps??

Troebel lichtgeel bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is licht bitter met lichte sporen van zuur fruit, verder niet al te bijzonder, helaas.

Huge cream to beige head, fine, dense & stable over opaque, hazy chestnut coloured beer. Dry woody nose, dark malts, melanoidins, faint diary. Very dry, (dark) malty flavour, melanoidins, wood or plywood; again diary. Rather well-bodied, bit sticky feel; feels well-carbonated, proven by the stable head. Not bad, but neutral, neutral... I cannot get happy with this kind of thirteen to the dozen.

Bottle thnx to Chris . Pours unclear blonde, very small white head. Smell is bit bitter ( spicy side ) , some sweetness . Some yeast character . Taste is sharp bitter ( helped by the high carbonation ) , sweet undertone ( malts and sugar ) . watery mouthfeel , thinned taste ( diluted ???? ) . Some small fruity character ( orange ) from the yeast. Very weak beer, helped by some bitterness ... Meh
