Description
A staple of the downtown community, Springfield Brewing Company has been in the business of brewing one of a kind, supremely drinkable beers since 1997. Our story really started when the Paul Mueller Company purchased the building, creating a beautiful showcase for their one of a kind stainless steel brewery tanks and changing the landscape of downtown. Their goal was to provide our community with a one of a kind brewpub experience combining local craft beer with great food.

A group of close friends and beer lovers got together and purchased the Brew Co. in 2011 it was their mission to continue creating award winning craft brews and working to perfect the menu. Our restaurant takes pride in operating as a scratch kitchen, bringing together fresh and often locally sourced ingredients to create one of a kind dishes.

Our brewery focuses on creative and tradition English, German and American style ales and lagers. Over the years we’ve been the proud recipients of Great American Beer Festival awards for many of our beers. Our aim is to continue working toward a harmonious balance between food and beer and we think we’re doing a darn good job! So stop in, grab something to eat and try one of our beers fresh on tap!

Pour is a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma is a big sweet malt with a very minor hop. Flavor is again more sweet malt and even less hops in the flavor. Finish is bitter but also watery. This was not a top quality beer. Almost no hop presence and way too sweet.

GABF 2015. Dark brown. Well roasted. I am not picking up the lager yeast I expected. Solid, dry grain and malt. Very drinkable, and the malt is not burned or overly roasted where so many dunkels seems to blur the line with schwarzbier.

Bottle at home in CT - big thanks to ma and sis for picking this up during their travels. Pours perfectly clear yellow-gold with a fading, foamy white head. The aroma has straight biscuity pale malts, some cereal, with accents of floral hops. Light sweet flavor, a little sugary, with some more cereal, dirty hay, faint notes of plastic, tangerine, lemon rind. Light bodied with average carbonation. OK balance on the finish, some further cereal and grains, bready malts, lemon rind, tangerine, grass. An OK pils. Slightly scattered, but OK.

Bottle from Sethdude. Pours very dark brown with a very foamy 4 finger dark tan head. Flavor is fairly treacle with smooth burnt malt and hints of chocolate and coffee. Well, more than hints with a little time. The treacle diminishes and the other flavors can come forth.

Bottle @ Matt’s house, courtesy of jcnielsen. Thanks Justin! Pours a bit hazy reddish brown appearance with a thin tan head. A bit vinous, tangy fruity, woody herbal aroma. Oaky, dark berry, vinous, somewhat acetic, vanilla, woody, kind of dirty/unintended infected flavor. Not a huge fan.
