29/XI/14 - 33cl bottle @ Winterbier Festival (Vichte) - BB: n/a (2014-1445) Thanks to Sanne for driving us!
Clear deep orange to amber beer, no head, not even right after pouring. Aroma: bit sourish, oxidized, funky, spicy. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: very spicy, thyme or oregano or something like that, bit sour, herbal, weird, oxidized. Aftertaste: bit sour, metallic touch, funky, pretty spicy, herbal finish. Weird, but not bad.

Thanks to Mathieu87. 33 cl. bottle sampled. Bottled on 19/06/2014. Hazy to murky apricot orange, solid white head. Rotting yeast, rotting fruit, nasty yeast cake nose. Taste is off, rotting peach, yeast cake, nasty rotting fruits, off bread. Thick yeasty body. Feels off like ’t Gaverhopke beers in general, infected, off, etc. Not an enjoyable beer.

Bottle @ home. Huge gusher!! Unclear yellow color with yeast residu floating in it, huge rough white to off-white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, floral, a hint of perfume and quite sweet. Not an abbey tripel in my book. In the end it tastes ok but I’m sure as hell not gonna open another bottle of this.

Brown colour, no real head. Aroma of wood, berries, red fruit. Light sour flavour, malts, berries. Finish red fruit, sour notes. Not your typical Dubbel, and my first beer by Gaverhopke, it turns out.

Blonde ale since 2009, referring to Mrs. Vandoorne who took over the brewery the year before. Snow white, creamy head, old gold colour with orangey glow, clear with fierce sparkling. Aroma of honey, young cheese, peach, butter, pineapple, caramel, apricot; sweetish taste, subdued fruitiness, applish and somewhat honeyish, supple and soft mouthfeel, flowery hops in the finish but not enough bitter to balance out the initial sweetness as well as a glow of warming, white port-like alcohol. Also tasted as a two years vintage bottle (shared with Craftmember), in which it showed a sourish quality, not unlike unripe gooseberry and a bit lemon, not unpleasant, let’s say a ’happy infection’...

Bottle. Alcohol and orange caramel malt aroma. Brown-yellow with small head. Sweet orange malt and moderately bitter orange peel flavor. Lighter body than expected for the style.
