(Bottle) Very beautiful clear and pronounced red beer, with a sediment that sticks to the bottom of the bottle and a slightly rosy head, that descends flat and creamy. The beer is quite dry. The cherries are obvious, but doesn’t add sweetness, more sourness. The base-beer is probably a blond ale. 191004

(Bottle 33 cl) The top-product from Gaverhopke is "Den Twaalf", - "The 12". Mahogany brown and filtered with bubbly carbonation, but not much of a head. Has Gaverhopke’s slightly sour and fruity character. I believe they’ve used some spices, but can’t tell which. It’s been a while since I’ve had a Belgion 12. And this is definitely one of the sneaky ones. I don’t sense the alcohol at all. Yeast sediment in the bottle. 220804

(Bottle 33 cl) Gaverhopke’s christmas-beer is quite dark with a slightly red tone. A bit hazy with a light brownish head. Has the Gaverhopke sour character, which is here suppressed by all the Christmas spices. I think it’s cardamom, that I sense. Which is quite unusual. Could bring reminders of the Swedish "Jule Mumma" (shiver....) 140804

(Bottle 33 cl) Fully golden with yeast sediment in the bottle. Not a lot of head. A bit sour aroma, and the sourness is also apparent in the flavor. Has a weird tang of.. yeah well! Sweetness and not a lot of bitterness. But sour! 140804

(Bottle 33 cl) Beautiful fully golden beer, quite sparkingly carbonated and very limited head. Yeast sediment in the bottle. Very fruity aroma, and the fruit -citrus?- is also in the flavour, which is fresh and very "summerly". Only slight bitterness and the sweetness is discreet as well. Very harmonic beer. 130804

(Bottle 33 cl) Bought at the brewery (with taproom), which was actually closed, but the son in law let us in and gave us a tour, and a lattle later brewmaster (and father in law) Eric Amaye showed up himself! He is a small, mild man with a timid pride in his beer. The beer is a brown, spicy ale with perfect harmony between the sweetness and the bitterness. Sweetness from added brown sugar. Sediment in the bottle makes the last mouthfull a muddy experience. A very satisfactory beer. 050804

Creamy, collapsing dense head leaving some lace; clear dark chestnut colour. Ever so slightly sourish nose, dark malts galore, a typical example of a benign infection. Liquorice flavour without the sweetness, gliding into chocolate flavour. Bit of roasted grain. Initial acidity slowly changes into flowery sweetish flavour. Well bodied, but acidity makes it thinner than it really is. Good beer, but experience learns it can vary. Can be excellent, can be defective. Sample hodie is in between. As in best condition this beer is excellent, I think it suffers from demand/production possibility ratio.

Hazy red-brown; very slim yellowish head. Very fruity nose, Traubenzucker , bready nose, like sour German bread, touch of "pickles". Bit syrupy taste, fruity, like preserved fruit or sucade. I seem to get some coriander. There is some half-hidden saltiness. Well bodied, nearly chewy MF. Not the most convincing sample of this brewery - could do better.

Fully hazy orange with olive shine; whitish head, fast reduced to 1/2 cm rim. Herbal nose, very green smelling, aroma like "loden"-cloth (kind of heavy woolen felt). Sweet-syrupy taste, with a vegetable character, again young beer, finish is thick malty. Rather well-bodied, less carbonated than the other beers. Difficult beer to describe. I’m afraid the description does not do it right. It is quite interesting in a way how basic beer ought to be.

Orange-golden beer with slight haze; dense, just off-white head, very slowly receding leaving some lace. Fresh beery nose, herbal, faint citrus & fruity, bit like fruit-flavoured sweets. Mainly sweet-neutral, sweets-like sweetness (doesn’t sound that sweet!), lemonzeste flavour whithout the tartness, faint pale malts. Finish is slightly sourish, even more citrussy. Warming up, honeyish notes. Light MF for an 8% beer, certain slickness. Plain, but decent beer, not a single off-taste, just rather neutral, and the light MF are surprising. Good for such a small brewery.
