Bottle, 375ml corked. It pours a clear, brown to dark amber colored beer with a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma is quite weak, with bready, toffeeish maltyness and some dried fruits. Booze too, but not much. It’s full-bodied and lightly warming on the palate, with a low and soft carbonation. Bready, roasted flavor with a boozy touch and prunes. Quite nice this one, but a tad too warming and not really my kind of beer. 140830

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are bourbon, wood, vanilla, dried fruits, malt, candy sugar and hops. Nice.

37.5 cL bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a small white head. Aroma is wineous and fruity. Smooth fruity, wineous and lingering smooth fruity. Crisp, toasted and wineous fruity into the finish.

Bottle #249, 2012 vintage 10%. Dark brown with tiny head. Aroma is malt, dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, yeast and cognac. Flavour is malt, toasted, chocolate, caramel, dark fruits, yeast, cognac, warming, alcohol, hop and a little bitter.

Pours deep amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, dried fruits and alcohol. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long warm, caramel and fruity finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

It’s full-bodied and lightly warming on the palate, with a soft carbonation level. Rosted malts, bread and toffee in the flavor, with some booze. Lasting bready and roasted finish with a little warmth. Not my kind of beer, but there’s some qualities going on. 140830

375ml bottle @ Midlands Tasting Group Aug 14, at Richie’s Hop Palace. Brought by me, from Vanuxeem. Pours mahogany brown. Disappointingly weak coffee aroma and did not get much coffee in the taste either. In fact, none at all. To me it tasted just like Prearis’ Quadrupel, but nothing more. Rated lower than the Quad due to disappointment.

Shared 330ml bottle, cheers Mat for bringing it to the 23rd Aug 2014 Midlands meet. Reddy brown body with a thin beige head, the nose was fruity and dark chocolate: I got less coffee than everyone else seemed to find in both the aroma and taste. Decent Quad but where was my coffee? This was the 26th beer though (28 if you include the two I had before the tasting session), so maybe I missed the coffee.
