Description
Dany De Smet, a brewery engineer, and his wife Dany De Smet, a brewery engineer, started brewing beer "in the kitchen" in very small quantities (about 50 liters per brew). In 1999 the couple decided to start a beerfirm so in 2000 Slaapmutske was founded. In order to meet the ever-increasing demand, we decide to work together with the Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi to brew the beer there under license.

Pale with amber shine, very slight haze; thick yellowish head, collapsing but quite stable. Nose is utmost caramel, like some sweet bar or toffee. Maybe faint banana aroma too. Complex taste that struck a chord: sushi rice, prepared and well, with the kelp already around it. Weird, salinity is very, very faint really. Quite some sweetness however. Warming up, both taste& nose get more yeasty, nearly meaty flavours. Mouthfeel quite full, obviously. Very un-tripel like. Some alcohol, but nothing drastic. Something's well wrong here, and I hazard a guess it's the yeast. But who am I to correct Dr. Naudts??

Bottled. Ruby with rich head. Banana and almond aroma. Dry and malty with notes of raisin and a fruitiness that lingers on into the pleasant finish.
