Description
Dany De Smet, a brewery engineer, and his wife Dany De Smet, a brewery engineer, started brewing beer "in the kitchen" in very small quantities (about 50 liters per brew). In 1999 the couple decided to start a beerfirm so in 2000 Slaapmutske was founded. In order to meet the ever-increasing demand, we decide to work together with the Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi to brew the beer there under license.

(33 cl bottle at Cafe ’t Kelderke) On March 21, 2008. Sediment in bottom. Shady yellow color, small white head. Fresh, sweet, fruity and spicy scent. Smoke, phenolic, spicy taste. Herbal aftertaste. Some herbal hops in both scent and taste. Spritzy mouthfeel, low bitterness. With last sediment turns darker and more shady. Scent and taste gets a bit less fresh and fruity, more spicy and harsh.

Draught at ZBF08. Hazy golden colour. Very small white head. Thin fruity aroma. Flavour is mild, some hops, also watery. Not good for this beer to be had after Hopsinjoor. Nice caramelly hop flavour.

It pours a cloudy light amber color, with a giant and persistant head, supported by a fine perlage. It’s a well executed Strong Belgian Ale, with a spicy touch; the aroma is mellower than a Triple, and the body more full. It has a strong bitterness, the final is a bit dry. Good.

Test vom 17.3.2008, Gebinde: Fass Noten: 11,10,10,11,-,10 - 10,26

Bottle, 33cl. An unclear, orange-brown beer with some floaties and a dense, beige head. Spiced, sugary nose with roasted malt, and a sweet, sugary and spiced flavor. Rather dry, full-bodied mouthfeel. Caramel, roasted malt and sugary sweetness in the finish. I’m not exactly sure why, but it disappointed me a bit, even though it’s a fine beer. (080215)

ZBF2008: From tap. Pours clear and golden yellow with a little lacing head. Light citrus fruity aroma. Flavour is mild citrus fruity. Solid lager like base flavour. Shows a distinct and growing dry bitterness towards the finish. Ends dry and light fruity. Refreshing.

On tap at ZBF 08. In a day of surprises, this was a real whopper. Gold. Just such a lovely hoppy lager. So drinkable. Great in mouth. Very dry finish and I could have drunk this all day.
