Description
Dany De Smet, a brewery engineer, and his wife Dany De Smet, a brewery engineer, started brewing beer "in the kitchen" in very small quantities (about 50 liters per brew). In 1999 the couple decided to start a beerfirm so in 2000 Slaapmutske was founded. In order to meet the ever-increasing demand, we decide to work together with the Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi to brew the beer there under license.

[33cl bottle] Hazy, dark amber colour with a beige and big foamy white head. Sweet toast-malty aroma with caramel, nuts, subtle citrus-fruity notes and a touch of spicy hops. Sweet flavour, medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Straight malt-accented toasty taste with caramel, slightly fruity notes and coriander spice. Almost dry, sweet-bitter finish with toasted and light hoppy elements. Well-rounded brew [11.I.09].

Bottled. A dark red-brown beer with a huge bubbly brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes berries and malt as well as lighter notes of alcohol and spices. The flavor is very sweet with notes of caramel, malt, wood, and over ripe fruits. The finish is dry and a bit spicy. OK, but a bit boring.
