Dark brown color, steady beige head. Chocolaty-cocoa nose with some caramel and hops. Very hoppy front (for mild). Caramel, chocolate, toasted malts in the flavor. Lingering bitterness with roasted notes in the aftertaste. Excellent mild!

On cask at CP&K. It pours a dark ruby brown colour with a thick beige head. The nose is chlorine, caramel, clove, liquorice and charcoal. It tastes of caramel, burnt sugar, liquorice, coffee, charcoal and sesame seed, with a dry finish. All round it is pretty interesting beer.

Cask at the CASK Pub & Kitchen on 12th March 2011. Deep ruby with thin off-white head. Yeasty aroma with sweet caramel notes when shaken. Rich caramel malts in-mouth, and a bitter aftertaste as liquid and sweetness subside.. Bitterness becomes long-lasting.

Cask at the Southampton Arms on 8th March 2011. Gold with a small white head. Very bitter right through. Sharp unilateral bitter aftertaste. Rather one-dimentional.

Cask at the Southampton Arms on 9th March 2011. Black with thin brown head. Strong aroma of fresh coffee. A lot of roast malts in mouth, in a spicy, coffee-y mix leaving a lasting, rich and intense bitter finish. Thick, fulfilling mouthfeel. A delightful stout.

Cask at the Southampton Arms on 5th March 2011. Amber with thin off-white head soon decaying to a laceless ring. Bitterness in aroma and in-mouth. Fine grapefruit and slight cheesy note to the liquid. Grassy aroma returns once liquid subsides, followed by a bitter and grapefruit blended finish. A very solid hoppy pint.

Deep Black ... thin tan head ... huge cold coffee nose ... little over fizzy ... again lots of coffee ... little tooo sweet ... light charcoal ... ittle burnt coffee ... decent but i prefered cask 3.5

Cask @ Bon Accord. Very dark brown colour, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, espresso. Flavour of roasted malts and coffee. Fairly bitter malts. Bitter and dry finish.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. Loads of beers shared with ChrisO and Harrisoni - Cheers! Light haze on this gold beer, tiny white head. Mild hops on the snout. Light dry palate. Bitterish grapefruit and orange marmalade. Nice light malt base. Mild bitterness in the aftertaste. Alright!

Cask conditioned, handpump at FFTMC 11.02.11 Pours amber, good clarity, tiny rim of white bubbles. Some mulch and fresh green hops on the nose. Start is slight sweet moving to a very pronounced bitterness. In fact this is a very decent drop, flavour is bit grapefruity, very pithy and by heck that bitterness is really zappy. I like this and despite hearing that some of the Summer Wine beers are a touch on the sweet side this most certainly isn’t. I didn’t take the abv details down but I’m guessing 4.2% or in that area.
