Luppolo (pronounced loop-o-lo) means hops in Italian. We chose an Italian name due to the Italian heritage of two of our owners and because the values associated with Italian culture–quality, craftsmanship, community and family–are central to our vision.

355 ml can. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, oats, oaky whiskey, and slick roasted malts. Flavors follow same though more oak than whiskey. Dry. Good stuff.

4oz pour at the brewery. Pours opaque yellow with a white head. Juicy citrus, dankness, and wine grapes on the nose. Flavour is also pretty juicy, lots of citrus, some grapes. The dry, chalky finish makes it hard to enjoy. If you like Superflux you'll love this.

4oz pour at the brewery. Pours clear blonde with a white head. Lots of dry, grassy hops on the nose. Flavour has dry herbal grass, cracker malts. High carbonation. Very solid pilsner.

4oz pour at the brewery. Pours clear blonde with a white head. Herbal and rice notes on the nose. Flavour has cracker malts, a slightly herbal hop expression. Fairly uninteresting.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a cloudy dark muddy reddish brown with a tiny white head. Aroma is intense, with tons of acidity coming from the berries and plums, some perfumey notes, and mixed bugs. Flavour is very jammy, with lots of jammy berries, plums, and some bugs. Acetic, acidic in general, but not too enamel-stripping. It’s alright.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a hazy pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma is full of big lime notes, saline, and maybe a touch of brine from the kelp. Flavour doesn’t really strike me as any different to the non-kelp version: lots of lime, saline, a touch of coriander, and seven some bugginess. It’s well-constructed. Good stuff.

On tap at Luppolo, pours a hazy dull amber orange with a small white head. Aroma has some crisp grassy hops, and subtle English bready malt. Flavour is more like a pils than ESB, with bitter grassy hops, toasted bready malt, and a light spiciness to it. Bright, crisp, biting, and well-hopped. Nice stuff.

6oz pour at the brewery. Pours murky copper with minimal head. Nose is very jammy with an unpleasant oily, acetone character. Flavour is acidic and jammy, plums and cherries most detectable; not as much acetone on the palate. Mouthfeel is a bit oily. Not very well dialed in.

6oz pour at the brewery. Pours murky pale gold with a white head. Salt and lime on the nose. Flavour is tart, gentle brine, some lime citrus. Well-constructed with a good balance of flavours. Nice.

6oz pour at the brewery. Pours murky yellow with a white head. Brett and musty orange peels on the nose. Flavour has rustic yeast, gentle phenols, tart citrus peels. A bit dirty and cluttered; not bad but not great.
