Pours a deep slightly hazy amber/orange with a huge frothy tan head that takes forever to recede. I can smell the coffee as soon as I pop the top off this bad boy. Holy coffee Batman the closer my nose gets the more intense the aroma. I can find little in the nose other than Java. If only the flavor followed the nose more closely. Lots of coffee flavor but also a bitter buttery earthy mineral flavor kicks in. Medium to thin body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick watery mouthfeel. Sadly this brew is not for me. I generally enjoy the peak products, but not this one.

On draft at Spacebar, Falls Church. Pours almost with a slight tan head. Coffee dominates the nose. Notes of burnt grain, coffee, chocolate, and raisins. Burnt coffee aftertaste.

Cellar aged for 14 months. Purchased @ Gary’s Beverage in November 2011. Nice pitch black color with a thin tan head. No lace. Aroma is big on oak character. Vanilla, wood and bourbon. Taste is roasted malt, lots of dark chocolate, light notes of coffee beans, oak and tons of vanilla. Hints of bourbon. Alcohol is no longer noticeable at this point. Medium body, soft carbonation and light warmth after the sip. Well, overall the alcohol mellowed out, yet I seem to have lost some coffee and chocolate flavor. Body could be much more fuller. Still a decent Impy stout.

It pours a jet black with a one inch white foamy head that only lasts for several seconds. Some spotty lacing graces the sides of the pint glass. The smell has the pine and hops up front, some light malts enter in after some warming up. The taste is slightly bitter yet sweet in different aspects. The palate is medium with some carbonation coming out a bit strong. Overall, a decent beer from Peak Organic, probably not one to jump up and down about, but hey, I’ll graze over these for the rest of the winter.

Bottle shared at the cabin, NH. Pours clear, rich gold with a tight, off-white cream head. Big of toasty dough on the nose, tangerine and orange citrus. Medium to big sweet flavor, light tangy tangerine, some piney bitterness, light caramel, orange. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Medium sweet finish with light, sticky toasted sugars, some resinous pine, some more tangy tangerine, suggestions of lemon and honey. Similar to the ME Local, perhaps a touch less sweet and a bit more tangy. OK.

Bottle shared at the cabin, NH. Pours clear, ruby-gold with a fine, white foam head. A lot of sugary berries in the nose, with a good bit of juicy pine and overripe orange. Medium to big sweet flavor with ripe and faintly tangy citrus, lightly toasted malts, a bit of caramel, more piney bitterness. Medium in body with fine to average carbonation. Sticky finish both sweet and resinous, with further juicy pine, strawberry, ripe citrus. I didn’t even know they had native barley or hops in ME, so given that it’s decent stuff. To be honest, I wouldn’t call this an APA (or an IPA) as much as I would a light barley wine.

Poured a clear bronze color, a bit like the color of maple syrup itself - with a small off-white head. Aroma was sweet maple, sugar notes. Not a whole lot else going on in this one.
