A dark brown IPA with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet nutty malt with nice floral hops, butterscotch, not bad. In mouth, a smooth nutty chocolate malt, floral hops, light menthol notes, quite nice. Tasted at Raquette River Beer and Wine Fest, July 13 2012.

Bomber from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a hazy amber color with a large frothy off-white head. Decent head retention. Big bananas in the aroma along with some wheat, spice and earth. The taste is wheat, spice, citrus, resin, Pine-sol, tropical fruits. No, I’ve never tasted Pine-Sol, but this is coming across as chemically fruity, which is what I imagine it tastes like. Medium bodied, high carbonation. A little disjointed, but not bad. EDIT: I JUST now got that this is pronounced Vice Principal. Duh!

Bottle at home in CT, USA. Pours black with a creamy, beige cap. Big pine and grass hop nose, with decent roast, too. Medium sweet flavor with heavy grassy bitterness, heavy roasted malts and burnt cocoa. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Fairly dry on the finish, with burnt wood, charred malts and roast, pine, mild oily resins and grass. Lingering bitter roast and grass. A very decent black IPA.

Draft at NOVA BrewFest. Poured a dark, almost black color with a dark tan, almost brown colored head. Aroma was citrus malts, nice lightly roasted and sweet malt balance. Flavor was citrus and pine hops, with a nice malty balance to it. Enjoyable.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks beerandbeyond. Dark brown. Aroma has a bit of dark fruits, a bit of old hops and some roastiness. Sweetish roasty flavor with a bitter finish. Medium-bodied. OK.

Pours a dark amber color with a bubbly off white head that gets a little sticky. Smells of pine and lightly herbal but mostly pine. There’s a bit of caramel in the background. The maltiness is a bit more pronounced in the flavor. There’s a solid rich bready caramel malt backbone to play against the pine and resin and herbal flavor coming from the hops. The taste is light crisp and refreshing. Medium body with a hefty dose of carbonation and a bubbly sweet mouthfeel. This is a nice flavorful beer, albeit a little on the simple side. If I had to knock it I would say that there is a hair too much carbonation for my liking.
