Billed as 100% malt brewed. All this means is that they haven’t added cornstarch like they do with regular Tusker. 12oz bottle pours a totally clear, very faint yellow with a foamy head that fades fast. Nose is vaguely sweet, a little grass, some faint yeast, a little honey, white bread. Flavor is fine, lightly sweet but not sugary, some light bread, some light yeast. Fairly straight forward. Watery finish. I like that this doesn’t have an artificial sweetness to it, but that said, there’s isn’t alot happening anyway.

50cl bottle pours a deep, yellow gold with a thin, frothy white head and plenty of carbonation. Honey aroma, some green apple, a little stale bread. Smells kind of rotten. Flavor is very sweet, actually tastes a bit like unfermented aple juice, a little metallic. This is just not good. A drain pour actually. Too sweet. Even along side some of the other sub-par African lagers, this was worse.

50cl bottle brewed in Kenya. Pours a lightly viscous, opaque black with a creamy, slightly thick beige head. Doesn’t look like your typical Guinness. Nose is mostly roasted barley, a little hay, some light grass, brown bread, a little licorice. Flavor is big, heavy licorice, very malty, sweet, molasses, roasted barley, dark toast, a little hay, chocolate. Full bodied, sweet, sticky finish.

Bottle in Ghana brought from a friend in Kenya. couleur dorée claire allant sur la paille, mousse blanche.

Never a good sign when, upon sniffing a beer, you reflexively yell out, "Oh dear God." Tusker seems to once again prove that the rest of the world is capable of brewing macrolagers just as bad as those made right here in the US. Interesting fact: the name comes from an old form of corporal punishment, in which the convicted was allowed to choose his form of execution-- trampling by Tusker the elephant, or consuming fourteen ounces of Tusker Lager. Man, that elephant squashed a lot of folks.

Bottled from Bierzwerg. Light gold with medium white head. Aroma, grain. Taste, very sweet, little perfumed. Well, African beer I don’t drink every day, but anyway nothing special.

bottle@home: a lawnmower beer, on the one hand it is a bit too watery, pale and light but on the other hand it is very easy to drink and would probably be great on a warm day but that is not really what I am looking for in a beer, in the end it has just way too little going on, bit of a dull lager

Warning! Early amateur rating! Boring lager - distinguishable from the crowd only by an odd sour note.
