A deep dark stout with a thick dense brown head, and viscous character. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light vanilla, light peated notes, grassy resinous hops, light licorice, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with vanilla, coffee crisp, oily mouth feel, light treacle, pleasant and solid. Bottle, bought in Nov 2011, so more than 5 years old.

Looks like they’ve released some of this from the barrels and that other swarm should be an alternate entry I guess. Taster at the brewery. Zwalm Sour beer 6%
A barrel aged sour with an aroma of vinegared plums, figs and dates. Light bodied, oakey, acidic, big figs and dates fruit flavor. Very nice.

Filles du Roy 5.7% Lightly opaque gold. Medium bodied it is a nice white beer with mid-level spicing, wheat and tangy citrus. An interesting take on the style but I think I prefer the more traditional Van Der Bull.

On tap at the brewery. Rebelle Quebecoises 6.5% Clear orange-amber-brown. Hints of fruit and crackery biscuit. The taste is tame but alright is looking from a red ale on the fruitier end of the spectrum.

Taster at the brewery. Black Watch Scotch Ale 5% Deep mahogany brown with a thick creamy beige head, probably on nitro. A good depth of nutty toffee maple. Smooth bodied and quite full. True taste is coffee, nuts and a bit of sweetness. Good.
