Description

Quadrupels are my favorite style and the regular Maenhout Ferre Quad was much appreciated. Now oak aged and whisky added, things are looking up. This 33 cl bottle came from Belgian Happiness, a fine retailer. Lifting the cap and tilting into my Trappistes Rochefort glass, the arrival is a dark cola colored body with a slim, creamy skim of eggshell brown foam. The smell is simply glorious, dark fruit, caramel and booze. My first drink is nice, but not up to the promise of the nose. Boozy certainly, multi-grain bread, figs, yellow raisins and syrup. I get some of the oak but can't say it improves anything. In any case, the bottle will not go to waste and I still like this brew to a serious degree.

Golden colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have a nice peachy sweetness. Grainy, full bodied. Lightly bitter in the finish. Sweet but not a typical Tripel.
