Pour is a cloudy gold with a smallish white head. Aroma is cracker malt and spicy hops. I feel like I've been saying that a lot. Flavor is the same as the aroma. Very dry malt with a spicy hop. Finish has a little blueberry on the tongue.

Draft at Zwanze. Aroma is grassy, herbal, floral. Pours hazy golden with white foam. Taste is sweet and floral. Sounds like an interesting idea on paper, but it's a one and done.

Can to snifter.
Appearance is shown in the picture.
Aroma: sly sweet to subtle roasty and earthy barrels with intricate woody to vanilla tones; sweet coffee-ish sniffs; dark chocolatey sweet to bitter contour and a light cocoa powdery sort dry to wafery/sweet cracker-like character
Flavor: intertwines the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to roasty and subtly spicy (barrel-ish accent) with the vanilla coming across as a sort of "aged" sweetness; finishes semi-dry with a pop of the sweet wafery and cocoa powdery to dark chocolatey vibe
Texture: medium to full bodied; absolutely a sipper! subtly smooth with appropriate low spicy barrel "nickings" to the tongue (very low but I was kinda expecting that to happen, no worries); good carb level
Overall: what a lovely barrel aged impy stout by OEC. To be honest, I can't exactly pin down if I pulled this too quick from my cellar or if I should have had this a bit earlier. To me, I "think" it was the right time (for the most part), hmmmm....but I'll ponder that to put myself to sleep tonight.

16 ounce can from Abe’s Cold Beer in Bethlehem, PA. Jet black pour. Large rocky tan head. Aromas of sweet roasted malt and molasses. Flavor is more of the same. Sweet roast, molasses, licorice and a hint of chocolate. Some dryish notes on backend. Bittersweet chocolate finish.

750mL bottled Feb 6, 2018, drunk Mar 19, 2026.
Really weird that I missed this beer when it came out and then never bought it from Fort Point Market in the past 8 years....
Pretty nervous about buying this from the hot shelf at FP Market, but hope springs eternal.
And it doesn't smell oxidized! Ok, step 1 accomplished. Lots of cheesecloth and cheese rind via lactic acidity with tons of cellar must and aged hops. Citrus rind, light pepper, biscuity, ample malts.
Not oxidized or over attenuated. Wow, that's shocking. Really nice, chewy texture from wheat and such with mild spicing in the background and refreshing, not overdone lactic acidity. Well, I'd say I'd like to see a lot more Brett, as there's almost none, but I guess I should just be glad there's little acetic acid. It doesn't say this is barrel aged but it feels like it must be to stand up to 8 years at this low an abv with no detriment. Could be a bit of oak, but the dry spice and lactic acid make it difficult to tell for sure. Not really Saison-like in the classic sense in that it tastes nothing like Dupont, for example. More of a mixed culture farmhouse ale, if you will.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: semi-muddied yellow with a quarter finger of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: light notes of white grapes, mixed citrusy tone, light cloves, earthy sweet tones; light floral notes
Flavor: fuses the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet crisp citrusy tone to a white grape-like/vinous and floral quality; finishes crisp, slightly spicy and a touch of dryness
Texture: light to medium bodied, somewhat sessionable; good smoothness but also a little bit of dryness running along the tongue
Overall: pretty nice saison worth coming back to preferably in the Summer.

Can to snifter.
Appearance: black in the pour and black in color with a thin wisp little off-white foamy head which trailed off fairly quick and didn't leave any lace
Aroma: wet grains, light roast, dark malts, black licorice, dark fruit, light dark and milk chocolates
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a fairly sweet to semi-roasty and undertone of bitter quality; finishes fairly dry with a little spice from the licorice
Texture: light to medium bodied, leaning towards being a sipper; some smoothness but also a nice dose of dryness lingering on the tongue
Overall: not a bad impy stout, maybe a bit odd to say the least but I do believe I could come back to this.
